Default Sirius.com traffic flat for holidays - or is it?

Sirius web traffic has stayed relatively flat for the holidays, and so far it has not shown a spike after Christmas, according to Alexa. The reach, or number of people per million who go to the site, has not shown any growth at all. In fact, other than the two events listed with the picture, traffic has stayed flat since June. There should be a large spike in traffic due to all the holiday activations that happened, but there wasn't.

While Alexa has been used by us and many other satellite radio sites for projected traffic and allows us to speculate about growth of Sirius and XM, it may be off this time around:

-Growth may seem flat long term because Sirius is a US company, while Alexa measures sites worldwide. When looking at 'reach' per million people, the portion of the internet users who are US based go down over time as the internet growth explodes overseas, so Sirius.com traffic may be going up. We can see this if you look at our stats on Alexa. Our traffic is down substantially according to them, but we have grown slightly when looking at our own traffic counter comparing this three month period to the last.

-Alexa may just be much more inaccurate than we thought. We look to have not had much more traffic than usual in the last 72 hours, but our own stats show us at a 50% increase in daily visitors compared to our 3 month average.

So, is Sirius going to have a bad quarter, or is Alexa's data information much less reliable than we thought? Hopefully we'll see when Sirius announces its numbers in the first half of January.

I think it's a bit of both, Alexa is a little off and Sirius had a less than stellar quarter especially compared to last year.

Sirius (and XM) are going to be up 40% over last year.... these companies are still growing at amazing rates.

From all the new people I have seen on the s50 and stiletto forums. I think they had a good christmas.

I wonder how many new members the SBS had in December? Probably more in January once people get their radio's installed.

Then there are those of is that consider Alexa as spyware, and do everything in our power to eliminate it.

Alexa is simply showing us what we didn't think would happen.

Just because subscription goes up does_not_mean_web traffic increases. Just tells us many new Sirius subscribers and current Sirius subscribers are NOT interested in browsing the Sirius.com web site.

Simple and accurate.
