Default Jamie Foxx to Program 'Urban Lifestyle' Channel on Sirius; What Happens to OutQ?

Oscar winning and Grammy nominated actor and musician Jamie Foxx will executive produce a new channel, called 'The Foxxhole', that will focus on Urban music, talk, and comedy. The channel, to be on 106, will include daily short segments from Foxx, as well as a weekly talkshow. There will also be urban comedy bits, sketch shows, as well as music and radio theater. Also serving as executive producer is Marcus King, who has produced many shows and specials, including The Jamie Foxx Show. The Foxxhole will launch this spring, hopefully with more changes in store for us.

The big question this draws is, what will happen to OutQ? Hopefully, it will just be moving to a different place on the map, such as channel 109, which would sandwich it between Maxim and CourtTV. As Sirius' first 24/7 in-house talk channel, it would be sad if it leaves the airwaves.

Post Checked with Sirius Customer Service

I called Sirius tonight to ask what will happen to OutQ. I was told that OutQ will be staying, but will move to another channel. The representative was not able to confirm which channel number it would move to, but did say they try to keep the categories grouped together. OutQ, he said, would stay within the "Entertainment" category, and that channel 109 is the first available channel in that category.

I made sure to point out to him that my service is up for renewal in a few days, and that the only reason I initially went with Sirius over XM was because of OutQ. I of course now know that Sirius offers a much better all-around product, and am addicted to Derek & Romaine!

Hope this helps,

I think this will be a pretty good addition to the Sirius lineup, I just wish they'd add some music channels too.

Question Why move OutQ?

Why move OutQ? If they want to add Jamie Foxx, great, but why move an already established channel ? They could just as easily put Foxx on 109....
Scientific progress goes boink?!?!

Maybe this is the start of moving some channels around again. I can picture channel 98 moving to closer to the rock category. I don't listen to OutQ much really, but I don't want to see that channel leave Sirius.

Personally, I wish Sirius would just add another "regular" music format channel instead. I don't really care much for channels like this and "Maxim" and "Cosmo", that are a hodge/podge mix of talk, music, and whatever else. I prefer a set format of either all talk or all music. I wish Sirius would just forget about the big star names for awhile and simply add some more "normal" radio formats instead of this "variety" type, star driven stuff.

I sure hope they don't cut a regular music channel to create bandwith for this fluff. If they do, I will be p*ssed.

If he has a weekly show, it might be cool. Becuase it sure doesn't sound all that different from the other comedy channels right now. Glad they aren't getting rid of OutQ. Not that I listen, but I think it's great to have these different types of shows.

Awesome! Gay urban lifestyle talk! I would have never pegged Jamie Foxx with that tag, though. Not that there's anything wrong with that.

Exclamation Prepare yourself...

Aside from having the worst possible name (Even worse than calling a receiver "Stiletto") in satellite radio history, this a welcome addition to the lineup that's been sorely missing. But, I also agree with BRH in that I wish they'd drop the celebrity name driven shit straight out the window. Just so you're listening SIRIUS--there's no celebrity/musician on the planet that will get me to tune into any channel...the quality of the content it provides is my only deciding factor.

And this whole moving channels around deal has got me in a tizzy folks. Anyone who's been with SIRIUS for awhile knows that when they add something to the lineup, you should always expect the exact opposite to happen in return. It's like the Al Bundy curse people! Yeah, it's a well-known fact that SIRIUS is incapable of doing something right without fucking it up in some prepare for the worst. Just a heads up for the newbies out there.

The channel that should get removed to make room for this one is the Blue Collar Comedy Channel.

I'm not opposed to the celebrity tie-ins to channels on Sirius, like Eminem. I think it does help with brand identity, and helps promote what Sirius is all about to those who aren't familiar with it. In fact, I have a celebrity tie in suggestion to change the Laugh Break comedy channel (the family friendly one). It should become the Weird Al Yankovich Comedy Channel. Weird Al should have a weekly show - he can be the new Dr Demento.

Sorry to get off topic.
