I was shopping for a new bmw 3 series, but decided to wait till the 2004 models come out latter this year. I Heard the news that sirius was coming on BMW, was excited. But when i built the current 2003 3 series on web site, i didn't get an option for sirius, and neither at the dealer.

Thanks for pics, now i have some peace of mind they come as an option, probably on the 2004 models.

Default hmmm

I saw someone somewhere post photos of a sirius antenna that did look very different (oval shaped and gloss instead of matt finish PLUS smaller) for the Mini.... I wonder if you can JUST buy the antenna from Mini dealers?

Actually, they are using a shark fin type antenna now. It is very similar to the 7 series antenna for the GPS. I was on the dealer lot and saw on a 3-series that antenna so I asked a sales person and they said it was the antenna for Sirius.

The sirius tuner is available for 03 3series (E46) built on or before 9/02. You can purchase the parts from your local bmw performance center, or online at somewhere like www.circlebmw.com

I am very dissapointed with bmw's antenna setup. I would like to find the "shark fin" that bmw uses but I'm having some trouble. Also, I think the "shark fin" is only for cellular.

IMO, mounting an obtrusive roof antenna would be one of the worst abominations that you could do the lines of the E46. I'm contemplating taking my chances and placing the antenna on the rear deck.

Actually, I think that antenna is for GPS Nav. systems.

Here's a link to photos of the kit from BMW.

You can get the kit from Circle BMW for $400.

Does anyone have a picture of it installed in a Mini Cooper? My girlfriend has one with the Sirius Ready headunit, but they want 600 bucks to install it which seems absolutely ridiculous.

I have Sirius on my 04 M3 with Navigation. I get track info on the NAV screen and the use of my steering wheel controls. I put the antenna underneath the front air intake on the hood.

I am now putting the XM micro antenna (painted to match) in place of the shark fin. The shark fin antenna only has the cellular antenna for the BMW Assist. The GPS is underneath the dash on the driver's side. I am moving the cell phone antenna inside the shark fin to the inside of the bumper which is where they are installed in Germany. There is actually a bracket for the antenna molded into the inside of the rear bumper.

Installed the factory Sirius on my CooperS.

The antenna is a combo satellite/AM/FM setup. It looks like an ovoid
tadpole. The shark fin is for navigation on the Cooper (not sure about
the BMW).

Dealer installed is expensive. Self installed is less so.

You will need the receiver, antenna, and install kit. You can get by with just the receiver alone, but will have to run a seperate antenna (looks too busy) and mount the receiver yourself. The mounting kit also is the part that has the instruction manual for the Sirius satrad. Made installation easier too.

Email me for pics.
