Default PNP2 is forgetful

This has been happening since the first few days I brought my Audiovox home:

*beep*

Sigh. This is the sound of my PNP turning on after it's somehow lost all it's memory.

For some reason that I initially thought was related to losing signal (I had difficulty getting a clear signal when I first brought it home) but I'm not so sure about now, and here's what I've found is lost:

Confirmation Beep: Lost
Time Zone: Lost (EST, DST active)
S-Seek data: Lost
Output Volume: Lost
Add/Skip Channel List: Still here :\

So I don't get it. I lose almost everything but my channel add/skip lists 1 or 2 times a week. Does anyone else have this?

mch, YES, I have the exact same problem with my PNP2. I have found no logic to it at all. It seems to be related in some way to when the unit is removed from the cradle or boombox. This is when I seem to notice that the information vanishes. One thing that seems to help is to just remove it from the cradles without powering it down first. Just yank it from the cradle or boombox. Thus far when doing this mine has not lost is memory. The last time I posted about this a few folks suggested my tuner was probably bad, since the memory functions are stored on a chip, but something is certainly causing it to wipe it clean. Its really pissing me off because I get a good set of song seeks in the memory and then bam without warning... they are gone. I've put songs in there at least four or five times. The first time I had some really good ones that I've not been able to get back in there. PNP1 does not have this issue at all.

I'll throw a monkey wrench into the thought about taking the unit out of the cradle or boombox when its on. I read about the problem and started doing that with my new PNP2 unit that I bought the other day, and I have had everything reset 3 times. I reprogrammed everything in twice and got fed up the third time and took it back and got a new one with my extended warranty on it.

So I'm not alone?

Crikey, I hope I don't have to buy a JVC soon or something. They're going to have to fix this in the PNP3, which will use the same cradles, of course.

It was odd for me. The first PNP2 unit that I had didn't have the problem of losing all information, but it had a problem with the buttons not responding like they should. The replacement was the one that did have the problem of losing the information, so I'll be testing the 3rd one to see what happens.

Darkbandit, please do keep us posted. Though I bought mine from Crutchfield and have no warranty. But I may just send this sucker back to Audiovox if nothing else. I am sick of this crap.

I bought mine from Circuit City on the 1st and it has the exact same problems as above. I work for a cellular phone company and deal with Audiovox on a daily basis. They always do a great job with repair issues when it comes to cell phones. I sent them an email and I'm waiting for a response on what they want to do about my PNP2. I'll let you know the results. In the meantime, I ordered another PNP2 from CC for my 2nd sub. Interested to see if it has the same problem.

Even though I have a H2A...if I lost my S-Seek songs I'd cry.

Hey Dab, I'm not sure it has anything to do with removing it from the cradle. My first two months with Sirus and my PNP2, it happened to me about 3 times and I've never removed mine from the cradle. Its several months since the last time and seems to have stopped on its own.

this is odd.....this has NEVER happened to me. I bring mine inside all of the time, switching from cradle to cradle. Maybe this is an issue in which you should contact Audiovox..

It has happened to me one time. Thank goodness it hasn't happened any more. I think Audiovox might have a problem on their hands.

You are probably right... I think I was just kind of trying to figure out a solution. Just tonight I took it from my Boombox into the truck for a short trip and BAM... everything is gone again. I am beyond crying about loosing my song seeks anymore. Now, I've reached the point of being pissed off. I thought about just going and buying another one, but it seems a couple that just got them are having this problem. Besides, Audiovox needs to fix this. I will be contacting them on Monday. I suspect if push comes to shove, they will have me send it to them. I am not sure if they actually work on them, or just swap them out. Doesn't matter to me, because I have no song seeks to protect at this point.

Whoa. This makes me kind of glad that I don't use S-Seek for any particular length of time (only to store a song name long enough that I can get home and download it in MP3.)

Let us know what happens if you choose to do something about this. I'm sure if word got out, a few more Streamers and JVCs are going to be sold.

I wonder if anyone is having this problem with The Streamer, since the guts are allegedly the same...

Well as you all know, I had the Streamer too and sold it and got the PNP2. I had the same thing happen on it a couple of times before I sold it. The guy that I sold it too, has never had it happen to him, cause I asked him earlier today. I don't get it, because its seems to happen sporadically and not to everyone that has them. I am concerned though this maybe a chipset issue. Though I am no tech, so this is purely speculation on my part. Look at all the issues the new H2A-2 and Home Unit has right now. hmmm...
