Default Need help with 2000 VW Jetta Install Audiovox PNP2

Hey everyone. I've been browsing these message boards and other similar ones for weeks now trying to get ideas for mounting the Audiovox PNP2 in my car. I've got a 2000 VW Jetta GLX. It currently has the stock Monsoon stereo in it along with a cd changer in the trunk.

Right now, I've just got that typical ghetto setup with wires going every which way. I'm listening to my Audiovox through the cassette adapter which just won't do. :\ I currently have on order a Soundgate Docking Station which will give me two more aux inputs in addition to letting me keep my cd changer. I intend to hook up my audiovox and ipod to those inputs. However, I've been having a lot of trouble trying to decide where to mount the audiovox unit. I've seen a lot of other jetta owners with pics of their installs, but nobody seems to have a pic of an audiovox install. I've seen a lot of Kenwood H2As installs, but those units are significatnly smaller. Here is my current idea. Here is a pic of someone else's setup.

My setup looks the same except for the XM receiver sticking out. What I was thinking of doing was removing that box in the center above the deck and removing the cup holder as well. The audiovox looks like it might baaaaaarely fit. I'd have to have some kind of molding around it as well to fill in the gaps. My ipod will be on a profit bracket on the right side of the deck. As soon as my soundgate gets here I want to do a nice hardwired install.

Does anyone else have any other suggestions? I don't really like to have it on the dash and all proclip or panavise mounts on the side of the deck would kind of be in the way. The audiovox unit is quite large.

Thanks so much for any advice or pictures.[/i]

If you remove the box above the head unit, and remove the cup holder, it looks like it could fit in there. I would leave space around it to allow for heat to escape as the unit does get warm.

If it doesn't fit, It seems like you could place it in the same location, but not inserted in the hole.
