Per Sirius product support I was advised that in order to recieve any warranty or product support you would need to contact RadioShack at 800-843-2528.
Very Funny, not. That number is a bunch of giggling IDIOTS who give out a phone sex number

Ok, I bought a Sportster Replay from Radio Shack in October and now the display is going out. I did not purchase the extended warranty from them, but I assume it should still be covered under the year warranty from Sirius/Directed. So do I call Sirius first then RadioShack, or just go to RadioShack?

TD
Check out KyWildOne's post and call Radio Shack and they will be able to help you. If they give you any static then call the Sirius Warranty number listed in KyWildOne's post while at Radio Shack. Hope this helps.

good luck buddy...I've been waiting over a month now...I call them 3x a week and all they keep telling me is that they're on back order and to call back at the end of the month. They received my unit on 2/20. I wrote a BIG letter to them and haven't heard back yet. I'm furious!!!!!

Default Sirius Warranty Department

Yes, Sirius Warranty is outsourced. Yes they are on backorder. Over 4000 units are on backorder. The most problematic models in order are the sportster, the starmate, the sportster replay, the starmate replay, the Sanyo CRSR10 (sold out and discontinued for problems). The most problematic accessories are the low profile magnet car antennas and the cigarette lighter car power adapters. They don't have parts to send out, they only send out factory kits for the newer models or piecemail kits for the more common units (mostly sportster replay and starmate replay). I'm almost 100% certain that the Sportster and the Starmate will be exclusively replaced with the Replay versions of each. Sometimes Starmate Replays are sent out to replace Sportster Replays because the Sportster Replays are so far behind. The shipping is done through an entirely different company than the call center that you call at 866-257-7726 and is located 800 miles further south than the call center. They send excel spreadsheets back and forth each day for status updates. When the warranty reps tell you that they don't have units to ship, they aren't kidding. Also, when they tell you that they don't have any idea when more units are going to arrive, they aren't kidding there either. Sirius Online Sales sent 3000 units to the shipping facility and the working units were sent out to customers. The actual number of those 3k units that worked and didn't is unknown but is guessed that about 20-25% did work, which would catch them up about 800-1200 units. When the current Warranty outsource took over from the previous entity that had it before November 17, they were almost 9000 units behind. They have caught up about 5k units, leaving 4500 +/- units still backordered.

The most problematic items:
The low profile car antenna and the car cigarette lighter power adapter. I don't know of any home fixes for the low profile car antenna but know that the most common breaks in the cable are right behind the magnet antenna. The car power adapter can be split open long ways with a thin flat head screwdriver or knife and the wires can be splices/wire tied back together and secured with electrical tape. With a four to eight week wait on getting a replacement, it may be worth it to you. Most of the time, either a Sirius customer service or warranty rep will ask if you have replaced the fuse in the car power adapter. If not, to replace or check it, unscrew the end of the cigarette lighter plug, the fuse is located under the end (two pieces that will fall when unscrewed, easy to lose), in the middle of the plug.

Default Warranty Hint

When the Sirius Warranty Dept tells you to ship the entire unit back, IF your unit is partially working (you are able to receive the radio but other functions of the unit are not working - like backlights on sportster replays, or the record function on S50's), tell them that you refuse to send in the unit. If you refuse to send in the unit, the only other option is to secure the replacement on a credit card, and get the core unit back to the shipping facility within 30 days of it being sent to you.

DO NOT USE YOUR DEBIT CARD FOR THIS PROCESS. - The software used for this process is home grown. If you use your debit card and get a charged when you shouldn't have been charged, the warranty company will not refund your overdraft charges.

I just can't resist telling my warranty story. On May 1, 2006 my display on my 2 day old Starmate Replay went blank, but the radio still worked. I called the warranty number listed in the back of the owners manual and after the usual press 1 etc finally got to a real person. The first question asked was did you buy it at Radio Shack. No I bought it on line. OH then you need to call the ecommerce people. Which I did and was told to send the radio back to Edison NJ. Which I did. Then I started trying to find out about getting the replacement radio and got the statement that it would be shipped out within 48 hours. Well, needless to say the 48 hours turned into 552 hours (23 day give or take) and my new radio arrived via UPS. They sent both the new Starmate Replay and Home Kit. I guess I shouldn't be too upset since I read that people have been waiting months for warranty replacement, but I thought I'd share my story just so that some might know that it's not impossible to get a new unit--it just takes a little time and a whole lot of patience.

Default Sirius takes over for Radio Shack

Called Sirius for a replacement on my starmate replay tonight - it's not liking my power cords.

Anyway, they told me that as of June 1, 2006 they had taken over all support for Radio Shack units. They are sending me a replacement 7-10 business days via UPS. I opted to give them my credit card so i could hold onto my unit until I getteh replacement.

Very helpful and pleasant actually.

I'll post an update to see if they follow-through as expected.

Post Warranty status during FCC issue.

Guys who have radios in warranty center might have to wait a long time if the FCC issues doesnt clear up or Sirius doesnt do something.
What has the sirius call centers been telling you guys who have to return radio's?
billybobjoebob ,do you have any idea whats going on ?
