Default Installation it a Pontiac, Vibe

Hey all, thanks for this opportunity... I have read many of your posts and is thrilled about what you have offered thus far.

Thanks.

Now, here is my question:

Just got the equipment and need to install it in a Pontiac, Vibe, but don't know where to start.

Thanks in advance for your suggestions..

What equipment is it? That will help determine where it goes...

Just wondering based on your screenname, but are you a DJ at Sirius?

I just installed the Kenwood H2A in my wife's 2004 Vibe yesterday. Looking to see if I can get an adapter for the AUX input since the FM mod is noisy at times (live in the KC area). I'll post more when I find the appropriate adapter as I think that's going to make a huge difference. The cradle fits very nice on the dashboard right over the center. The antenna was placed quite nicely in front of the sunroof.

Well, I found the following possibilities (depending on the year of your Vibe and what stereo/NAV system you may already have installed).

Here's the one I'll need (most expensive one, of course):

Another option for older Vibes:

For 2004s with fancier radios:
http://www.logjamelectronics.com/piegm12aux.html

Granted, you DON'T need this piece in order to complete the install but depending on where you live, it may make a huge difference in sound quality and audio level.

Hope this helps,
Todd

I installed a Kenwood head unit and tuner in my '03 Vibe. Here is the link to the info and pics:

I'm an admin over at http://www.GenVibe.com.. since the new Vibes come with XM, there are only a few of us Sirius people to represent.

Default Sorry guys... forgot to tell which one I have.

Here is the link to the Clarion model I have:

http://sirius.com/servlet/ContentSer...=1077744931624

I bought it because that was the best one that was available at the time, the other the JVC which does not get good ratings on this site -- now I am learning the Audiovox is a better buy because of the add-ons that it allows.

Anyway, what got me is the fact that it was possible to change the color of the background. I love the color-uniformity it offers.:-)

Hmm....

Is this your dash?

If so, you can place it in a couple places:

1) on top of the radio, right above the hazard light button.

2) attach by Arkon lighter mount:

3) use Arkon cup holder mount:

4) Order a Pro-fit Vehicle specific mount for the vibe. It will mount to the right of the climate control.

Options 2-4 can be ordered at: http://store.myradiostore.com/mobrandto.html

Default kule

I snatched this pic from genvibe.com. I want my dog where the dog is in this pic near to the drivers right air vent.

http://forums.genvibe.com/zerofile/3420/bezelbolts.jpg

I found that to be the optimum place for it and maximizes reach and view -- don't even have to take the eyes off the road.

It will be a challenge though since there is no screw behind that plastic that covers the radio and air vent. They had some very detailed pics over there as well and that is how I know.

Let me add also, and most important of all -- is this is going into my wife's car. When we do the Lex then that will be easier as I am typically better at multitasking than she is, we we can put it in the center console, shoot -- we can put it on the floor, as long as I can reach it.

Do you have a link to the post? The site does not allow outsiders to link to pictures.

Another idea would be mounted up higher:

http://forums.genvibe.com/zerothread?id=10516

Take some pics of your install and let us know how it goes!

Default Nice

I would never have thought of that idea placement.

For me though that is a no-go.

I can just see/feel it not. Everytime I reach up there to change it, I get the feeling that I am in a big rig reaching for my CB radio....breaker, breaker 19 for NSimkins.

Thanks, and even more -- its my wife's vehicle. She drives it every day and might not be able to reach over there.

I would look at the Vehicle-specific pro-fit mount I mentioned a little higher up. I think that will be close to where you want it, to the right of the climate control buttons.
