No question is a dump question, unless you don't ask it.

S-seek is where you save songs that you are listening to into the song seek memory. The next time that or those songs are played on any music channel. The tuner will beep and notify you that one of your songs is playing on another channel. If you push the tunning wheel or select (depending on your PNP unit) it will automatically take you there.

Just put songs in there that you really like and not those that are real popular because it will beep constantly. I use it for songs that I love that rarely get played. This feature works GREAT on all the SIRIUS PNP units that offer it. Its one of my favorite features as I am sure others would agree.

Hope this helps and Welcome to SIRIUS Backstage.

JVC 700 KT-SR1000 have S-seek? I think it does but I'm not sure. How do I find out if it has S-Seek? Thanks

Just don't try using it on your favorite RawDog comedy routines or RadioClassics episodes. Unfortunately s-seek doesn't seem to work with talk stations, at least it doesn't with my Clarion PNP. I'm not sure why.

There is actually a very technical reason, but to make a long story short, the s-seek function only works for music, not shows, bits or anything else. This is more to do with the way SIRIUS set up their library in Prophet I think, but that is still not 100% confirmed.

What I would really like is to be notified when a particular artist is playing. For instance, any Van Morrison song, rather than a particular song.

I think that the artist seek might be a feature in the gen 3 PNPs, but no 2.5s have it

I actually think it was doable this time around, but for some reason SIRIUS just didn't add it to the specs so it wasn't included. I personally would prefer an artist search, but the current setup works will enough to keep me happy. My biggest thing was wishing for more song seeks. Seems the Sportster is the only one that has 24, most of the others have 20 and so far we know the Bluapunkt on has 10.

That's correct, RedLeaf. S-Seek is a feature unique to the PNPs. I don't know if it will ever be available for in-dash units.

Yeah I figured. Thanks for the quick response.

I'll just have to wait until I get a PNP.

I have both (a PNP in my car and an in-dash unit in my wife's car). I recognize that I'm not sensitive to the appearance/size concerns many here have, but I wouldn't trade my PNP for an in-dash for anything. The feature sets of the PNPs, starting with S-Seek, are that much richer in my opinion.

Yeah I know what you're saying. My brother has a PNP and I thought it was pretty cool.
The thing is, is that I don't really listen to the radio much when I'm inside, but for right now, when I want to hear some music, I'll just go online to sirius.com and listen to the online version. It suits my needs right now.
I'll eventually get a PNP (what does that stand for again? Portable something something I'm assuming).

I'll probably just wait for Christmas or something.
