Default Starbase install question

Sirius subscriber since last Fall and very happy....had a Sportster in my F150 that i loved. Now have an Expedition and wasnt real happy with the placement options of the Sportster so i bought and installed the Starbase unit. I love the idea and look of this little jewel!
Here is my problem, i installed to factory head using FM modulator(wired)....when the Starbase in on i can not pick up any FM stations, only static. When i turn off the SB everything is great (as good as FM can be). What have i done wrong? i know i shoudlnt have to turn off the unit each time i want to tune to a local station, right?!
thansk, Kevin

Make sure that the FM modulation is turned on in the menu.

When the starbase is on you should not be able to get any FM station (if it's installed correctly).

I didnt see an option for off/on but i did change the frequency and can hear Sirius throught the station programmed. I was under the impression that i could simply switch frequencies from the one Sirius was on to the other local stations to listen to the local FM..... sounds like that isnt the case and i will need to turn the unit off and on to go from Sirius to FM local as long as i am using the FM modulator. am i summarizing correctly? also, i assume if i upgrade the head unit and hook up with aux. this is a mute point?

There should be this option in the menu section where you selected the FM frequency you wanted to use to listen to Sirius.

The SATSWB disables the regular FM antenna.

You are correct, if you want to listen to the radio, the starbase needs to be turned off.

Aux is the best way. What year is your Expedition? You might already have that option.

it is an 03 and when i pulled the head it didnt appear that was an option but i could be wrong. it is the basic four speaker cd/cassette unit. boy, i put in some new pioneer speakers in the front today and man, those door panels are a bitch to get back on! i will probably upgrade the CD player soon, as the only reason i needed the cassette was for the sportster.

great links, thanks.....sorry for the 20 questions tonight but great info...if the starbase is in either/or mode why is it important to find a freuency that is "quiet" for the receiver? In my market that has proved difficult at best.

I am here to help. With the SATSWB installed correctly, it doesn't matter what station your HU is on. I haven't changed mine in 6 months and I have travelled in many states.

You may need adapters for your FM antenna to fit the SATSWB.

You need to make sure that the SATSWB is plugged into the FM out of the Sirius unit.

I'm sure there's a few more.

actualy you do have to turn your unit off to get FM again. when the unit is on the black box on the modulator disconnects your FM antenna from the stereo.
