Default I'm about to throw my Starbase out the freaking window!

Between the power going on and off when I make left turns and the freaking antenna becoming loose... it's driving me nuts

And when those two things aren't going wrong I'm getting "Aquiring Signal" all the time. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr....

So, even if I fixed the power cord problem and the antenna problem then I'd still have to deal with the crappy reception.

Sounds like a very poor installation. I had mine setup for a while and never had ANY of the issues you are having. Time to install it properly.

That's what it sounds like to me. I love my Starbase. Best Satellite Radio I have owned.

Can anyone confirm if you can hard wire a Starbase to an aux port?
I was looking at buying one but not sure if I want the antenna type of hard wire for use on an FM station.

I thought I had answered this for you in another thread. Yes there are two RCA outputs on the Starbase that can be plugged directly into the Aux-Input of your head unit. You also have an FM-Out on the Starbase for hooking it up using the SATSWB (FM Switching Box)

Thanks...I must have missed the RCA quote, sorry about that.

A little off Starbase topic but have to ask..
On Chrysler/Dodge products I have read that the XM Direct product allows Artist and Title to display on the OEM HU where the Sirius SAT tuner does not, any idea what is up with that?

TX WJ is the Chrysler/Dodge Guru on the forum, so maybe he can answer that for you. I really don't know much about the OEM's. Sorry!

are you sure it isn't "acquiring signal" because the antenna is coming partially loose, as you mentioned?

sounds like a botched install job .. if all else fails, hot glue the antenna plug down, hee hee

What could I have done wrong?

I mounted the receiver & plugged the antenna in the one hole and the power plug in the other hole.

I see you are in the east. If you had your tuner on your dash during the past heatwave that could be your problem. I left a tuner in my truck when I had a small service call. The call went on to last a couple of hours and when I came back my tuner was fried. No physical damage but the thing does not get a signal anymore once it warms up. (about 30 seconds)

If the power is going on and off, then you evidently don't have the darn thing powered with a good connection seems pretty clear to me. No tuner is going to go on and off unless its loosing its power source.

The antenna becoming loose, I don't get that either, mine fit very, very snuggly and it doesn't come off at all. But it sounds like the tuner is just floppying around so that the wire is being moved around? If you have it mounted as you say, how can the antenna wire be lose enough for there to be no connection?

Aquiring a signal, that is possible depending on if you are in a location where the signal is being blocked, though I rarely if ever seen this on my Starbase. The times that I did the signal was in fact blocked so I wasn't worried about it.

So, if you have a rock solid power source that you KNOW 100% is good and the antenna is solidly plugged in. Then the only other thing beside a poor install is a bad tuner, which you should have swapped out ASAP if all this was happening all along.

What is clear is that it appears that everyone that has replied certainly aren't having the problems you are, so its something specific to your tuner, rather its a poor install or bad unit, you'll have to decide. The Starbase has proven itself to be rock solid as far as I am concerned.

My first "I'm back" post

I agree with the previous posts, it's either a terrible install, or defective unit..

My starmates been tore to hell, painted, and still works perfect
Same with my Sporster, beat to hell, taken apart, painted.. Still works fine

Hell, I left my starmate accidently turned on, in the car, on a 98 degree day. Came out to see the screen washed out complete. Untouchably hot.. Turned on the HU, and low and behond it was still pumping out tunes.. Recovered fine, no problems.. I

WARNING WARNING ATTENTION WHORING
