Default Sirius Receiver for Sirius-Ready 2005 Mazda3

I've been a Sirius subscriber for over a year now, so when my wife got her new 2005 Mazda3, we wanted to get Sirius for it. The factory-installed audio system is Sirius-ready, meaning that there is a "SAT" button on it, but the dealership charges $399 for the receiver.

I've seen receivers made specifically for certain manufacturers' radios (Kenwood, JVC, etc.), but I can't even figure out who makes the radio that came with the Mazda3. I assume Mazda manufactured it.

Are there any after-market or third-party receivers that can be installed to work with her factory sound system, or are we limited to ponying up the 400 bucks or adding a tuner/receiver that uses an FM modulator?

Thanks in advance for any and all comments.

For my new 2005 Explorer the dealer wanted $600 for the tuner, antenna, harness, and installation to have Sirius through the HU. I looked online and saw the tuner kit for about $250. Then I could install it myself.

I did some looking for you. I found the kit here for $325:

Notice the part #. Do some searching around to what else you can find.

Hey, thanks a lot! That's a big help. I had a feeling there was a cheaper way to do it. I'll look around online and see what I can find, but even $325 is a much better deal. Thanks again.

I still haven't decided what I should do. I really want to see what the display looks like. I am used to seeing a the info on my Sportster.
