Default FM Transmitter Confusion

I don’t know how to use the built in FM Transmitter. I select “ON” then, pick my channel, but I only hear the Sirius channel I was listening before I hit the “menu” button. I looked at the manual but it is not very detailed. Can someone tell me how the FM Transmitter works?

(If it matters I have the Starmate)

Thanks.

Welcome to Sirius Backstage

When the transmitter is "on" in the Sirius unit, it will transmit a signal to a nearby FM radio. If the transmitter is set to 87.1, then you'll hear the Sirius broadcast at 87.1 on your FM radio dial..

I'm not quite sure what you mean when you say: "I only hear the Sirius channel I was listening to before I hit the menu button"..

The FM Option is not an FM Radio. The FM Option is an FM Transmitter. When you turn it on and set it to a channel, near by FM Radios can pick up SIRIUS on that station.
