Default Alpine head unit question??

I have an older alpine headunit from about 2 years ago, a cda-9811. I know its ai-net compatible, i just aint too sure of what adapter i need to plug the sirius in the aux.

I found this...

http://www.crutchfield.com/S-5Avmltb...p?i=500KCA121B

Just not too sure if this one will do the job, its alot cheaper then the pioneer cable.

Any ideas?

yes, the KCA-121B will do what you want it to do with your CDA-9811. it changes the Ai-NET CD Changer input port into an auxiallry input via the use of female RCA's.

you will then lose the use of your CD Changer functions if in fact you have a CD Changer. if you would like to have both, Alpine makes an adapter with a cd changer pass-through while adding an auxillary input, the KCA-801B:

but if adding a single auxillary input into your HeadUnit is what you want, then the KCA-121B is the way to go.

If you do have the changer you dont need the extra box. The Sirius box has an AI Net pass through that allows a second AI Net device hooked up. I have the CDA-9813 and use the auxilary input and love it have had no problems at all. Sound quality is fantastic.

i didn't know he was uing a Sirius Tuner in conjunction with his headunit, thought he only wanted to add Sirius via an RCA auxillary input. but yes, if he's looking to add an aux input as well as having the Sirius direct tuner, then the tuner itself has an AI-NET pass through.

i guess you need to be more specific in what you are wanting to do.

Sirius Direct to the Alpine?

or Sirius audio inputed into the Alpine via the audio out of the Sirius PNP receiver you have?

well, keep us posted on the progress.

what make/model/year are you installing it in?

hardwiring power or cig lighter adapter?

were you looking at any other mouting/docking solutions, as the suction cup will wear thin on you over time.

It went into a '97 grand cherokee. I hard wired the power and everything got finished up earlier. I like the suction cup mount becuase its free lol. I really dont feel like paying another $55 for a vsm and a tipper. I already did that once.

i didnt get to take any pics during the install, though i do have some of the finsihed product. I'll post them up tomorow. It turned out really clean for a suction mount install.
