Default Acquiring Signal

Background:

I have a JVC version 1 receiver and car docking cradle in the car. I also purchased a home kit for the den – but replaced it with a car antenna because it was easier to glue to the roof. I also purchased another car docking cradle and AC adapter for the bedroom and glued the antenna to the rood on the other side of the house.

A few months ago I moved the receiver into the bedroom as I always do and found that I could not get a signal. Acquiring Signal stayed on the display. I checked the antenna aiming and I was receiving no signal at all. I stopped using the unit in the bedroom (no big deal since Air America Radio was leaving). I later found that an animal had eaten thru part of the cable.

Today:

I turned on the unit in the den and again the Acquiring Signal displayed. I though “Oh no – another broken antenna cable”. But I noticed the antenna signal in the lower left corner was full. So I checked the Antenna Aiming and found that I was receiving a full signal from satellite and 1/3 signal from repeater. But Acquiring Signal remained. Never seen this situation before. I turned the unit off – waited about 10 seconds – and back on again. No change. I left the unit on and about 3 minutes later it started working fine. This was just before 9AM Eastern. I waited about 10 minutes and turned it off and back on again – and it is working fine now.

Could Sirius have had a technical hiccup this morning? Anyone have a similar problem around the same time?

I may have been but I think it was most likely an error in your tuner. There may have been some sort of intereference in your area that disturbed the digital signal enough to make it undecypherable but still strong enough to give you a good signal reading or it could have been just a glitch in your tuner. It happens. For a while I was wondering why Sirius wasn't changing the song title's when that song just ended and a new one came on. Now I know that it's my tuner that likes to do that. It has nothing to do with Sirius not changing the song information. I change channels and back and it updates it. Anyway, I wouldn't worry about it unless it happens frequently.

Default Sat problems this morning?

This morning, when I started my car and pulled out of the garage, I got NO SIGNAL for a couple minutes. It finally started receiving the stream, but with constant dropouts. I couldn't take it anymore and just put on a CD. Later on, I switched back to Sirius and everything was fine. Was there some sort of problem with the sats this morning? I don't have a repeater in my area so I know it wasn't a problem related to that.
