Default antenna for plug-and-play question

I am new to Sirius and am loving the service. It's great to be a new member and have a community to share experiences with. I searched for an answer to this question and could not find it so I hope this isn't too much of a newbie question, but here goes.

I bring my boombox back and forth to work each day to listen. When I am at home I can leave the antenna docked on the top of the boom box to receive a good signal and never have to unwind the antenna cord from the back of the boom box.

When I get to work, I need to remove the antenna from the boom box and place it about 10 feet away to receive my signal. This requires me to unwind and wind the cord around the back of the boombox every day which will eventually kinda kink the cord up.

My question is, since this cord is attached to the antenna itself, will my signal be effected by this cord getting all kinked up from wrapping it up and unwrapping it every day. I guess I would have the same question about the power cord to the boom box getting kinked up too.

I ask because my headset speakers to my walkman have had reception problems when this same kinking on my headset cord occured.

Thanks in advance for any help. It is greatly appreciated.

I suspect that it will eventually degrade the performance of your antenna cable.

How does avoiding the problem by getting another antenna sound? Most come with about 10' of cable or more. An indoor/outdoor antenna is fairly small and discrete. Most aftermarket antenna will fit your boombox. You're looking at an outlay of $30 to $40, but you'll pay that anyway by constantly winding/unwinding the cable.

TheSiriusStore should stock what you need.

Thanks Capn.

That's kinda what I thought about the cord. I checked the Sirius Store as you suggested and I believe you are right to just purchase a second antenna for work and keep it here. Hopefully I can hide it discreetly so it doesn't get ripped off where I work. Thanks for your response.

See if TheSiriusStore carries radiation stickers and put one on it.
