Default Alert-anyone thinking about a Warranty Claim, no stock !

After spending several days with tech support to resolve an issue with my less than one month old Sanyo CRS-10 receiver (and boom box), I contacted the warranty department to set up a return/replacement.

The issue with the Sanyo is that after 20 minutes of play in the car, it craps out and broadcasts nothing but static, yet receives full satelite signal. Thus, there is a problem with the FM transmitter. It works fairly well in the boombox, when I can get a signal (there's another story !).

So the warranty department tells me they can't even replace the unit now as THERE IS NOTHING IN STOCK...YIP, NADA, ZERO !! So I'm going to have to put my year subscription in suspension until a month or two (or who knows how freakin' long) until Sirius gets their poorly planned act together. This really sucks...I'm so disapointed with the entire organization...if you are going to hype a product/service...you better be ready to SERVE YOUR CUSTOMERS. You can be sure I'm telling everyone who asked me how I like Sirius to avoid it like the bird flu.

I would have selected XM if not for Howard Stern and Bubba...and now, boy am I sorry I wasted $250.

Good luck to y'all and hope you don't need to return any defective hardware.

J

I'm in the same boat with the starmate reciever my wife bought 4 months ago, only I'm caught between Sirius and Radioshack trying to get it resolved. They agreed to replace it but nothing is in stock and they said I just have to wait until the get one but they won't say when that will be.
Hopefully in a month or so the say...hopefully.

She was very careful to make sure I didn't get my hopes up.

Radioshack is doing the replacement but I'm pretty dissapointed with Sirius for not having replacement units available for many different models. I know Christmas was kick ass for them but c'mon.

And after calling Sirius CS no less than 5 times I can concur with others in this forum that it's pretty bad.

I may just switch to XM and eat the price of the starmate if this goes on beyond a reasonable time... end rant.

I bought my Sportster from Circuit City and got their 2 year protection plan for $24.99, as well. I've had good service with Best Buy's protection plan in the past, so... I'm hoping I will with Circuit City as well, should something happen.

Default problems with my Sanyo too...

My receiver (Sanyo CRSR-10) is defective, and I have to ship it back to Sirius because I bought it off their website. Did you ever get your issue resolved?? I was on the phone with both Sirius and Sanyo last night for over an hour while both played "pass the buck"; finally I got someone in Sirius customer service to agree to a replacement.

I wouldn't send anything back to sirius until you have a claim number from their warranty center and not until you get your new unit in your hand. If you do the adavanced replacement you give them a CC number. It's not charged however here is what happens.

They send you a new/replaced unit you then have 30 days from the time you receive the unit to ship back the defective unit. If you do not send back the defective unit in the 30 day time period your CC is charged for the replacement unit.

However with Sirius being on a "national" backorder I wouldn't hold your breath.

I'm in the same boat about my sanyo. Look we should all get together and start a petion, this is a lousy product and we should get a diffrent one instead. No reason why we should jump though these hoops every month ( which seem's to be these Sanyo's shelf life.)

Who's with me?

Yeah, I'm getting pretty fed up too. I just hope this Sanyo works ok. It's my 3rd one. So far so good, but it's only been a couple of weeks.
