Default '05 Subaru Forester install

Here's my installation. Did it myself, never touched a car stereo before. It is hard-wired for power and fm modulator. There are no exposed wires.

Looks great- the interior is almost identical to the Mazda 6. Did you have any thoughts of putting in the center dash-top compartment?

No the remote needs line of site, so you have to point it straight up and leave the door open.

I did think about that, but it's too far a reach and then I have to leave that big door open while i'm driving. That upper door is nice and out of the way.

I removed the A-pillar plastic and ran the wires underneath. No really good method to this other than just pulling it off, on the '05 anyway. Be careful and take your time when doing this.

At the top of the A pillar to the middle of the roof, I simply pushed the wires underneath the headliner, there is space enough to just jam them in. In the middle I completely removed the over head console, ran the wires through the hole in the headliner and drilled a hole through to the front compartment.

Let me know if you have any questions. Also chack out subaruforester.org and scoobymods.com for all types of info on the Forester.

thanks alot. I am wondering what kind of reception you are getting mounting the antenna on the dash. I have been riding around today with it in the same position, and I am not getting a good lock. one other thing. did you hardwire the power, if so, where? thanks again.

My reception is fine, I only have dropouts under dense foliage. My father's car with a factory installed unit does the same thing. Depending on where you are, it will make a difference, but I have no complaints about my signal driving throughout the NY/NJ/CT area.
