Default Sporster replay for replacement - Crutchfield says unknown

Well, I figure that since I had mentioned to some of you on here that I was getting my Sportster Replay replaced due to the lights going out on it, that I'd update the situation..

I've now received 3 calls from Crutchfield, the last one being this past Thursday. Each one was to inform me that their expected shipment of Sportster Replays had been delayed/pushed back yet again to another date. However, Thursdays call was to inform me that they no longer had a expected date as the date had been changed to "Unknown"..

It makes me wonder that since you cant find a Sportster Replay in stock anywhere, is Directed having problems with them?? Because its really odd that you cant find them anywhere, and that you cant get a replacement for a defective one as the ship dates have been pushed back 3 times to a final date of "Unknown".

All the lights on my Sportster are out except the main display, but I wasnt about to hope that it doesnt go out as well, so I asked Crutchfield if they would let me send back the Sportster Replay as credit to another receiver.. They were more than helpful about it, and the only restriction being that I could only choose between the Starmate Replay and the S50 as they were the same brand as the Sportster Replay.. I chose the S50 and paid the difference.

Now I wonder what I'll have to do to get my rebates, as I know this is going to cause a problem in that department..

Yes, there's something wrong here. Too many people have problems with the lights. I don't understand why they're having this problem. Audiovox PNP receivers never had this probem (or at least this wide spread).

Thanks for the update

Maybe Directed Electronics found some in the corner of their warehouse.

My Radio Shack had nada a week ago.

I am wondering if this unit is now being retooled with the 3.0g chipset and firmware. Perhaps it will now support not only all the sports features, but also the song and artist seek. I know several who wanted to to get this tuner, but because it lacked the artist seek past on it. SIRIUS really needs a dockable PNP that supports all the current features and I see no better choice than the Sportster Replay.

If it is being retooled it will still be the same size and work with all the same kits and boombox.
