Default Acquiring Signal - but Full Bars?

Here I am listening to Stern, when my Starmate Replay goes to Acquiring Signal. I go into the menu and the Signal Indicator is completely maxed out.

The antenna is outside my house on my roof, facing East (as the map on sirius.com tells me to put it.)

I go outside and move the antenna around to no avail. Full reception but no signal.

Any ideas what might be causing this? It worked absolutely beautifully all day until now

Thanks

EDIT: Well, it just came back on, but it is glitching back and forth between signal and acquiring. No storm or anything here. Is it just a satellite glitch, or should I concider taking the unit back and getting something else?

EDIT 2: Tried another antenna (the car one that came with the unit). It got a signal on the indicator, but still stick at Acquiring Signal.

EDIT 3: So it stopped completely again. So I took it off the little holder and hit it. Now it works fine.

I suppose I should wait for them to get back in stock and replace it, or maybe get an S50... i dont know.

Anyone hear of this problem before?

Sounds like an equipment problem to me. If you have 10 bars and an acquiring signal message, that is clearly a conflict. And if hitting it fixes it, then obviously something is wrong. Bring it back.

My old starmate ST1 did this. Sirius customer service reffered to it as a "known issue with this product" Ultimately I swapped it out at radio shack. Hopefully you wont have to but that was my experience.....

I'm having the same problem with my JVC SR2000 (also a plug and play). I'm in Detroit and this started happening on 2/11. I've tried two antennas, two docking units and experience the same problem. Sometimes, if the unit is left on for an hour or two, the artist information appears but still no audio output.

Has that happened to you?

I have a replacement radio coming (out of warranty = out of pocket).

If that doesn't fix it, I'm cancelling my subscription. Maybe the receiver technology will get better in a year or two.

Default Everyone relax

If the signal is MAXED then they. are doing something at Sirius,I called one time about sound quality and they did something on their end and it said Acquiring signal and obviously my radio was receiving full bars.
This is them and not your equipment, someone told me they are constantly trying to make it sound better (no pun intended) and it will do this.
Also I was listening to Stern one day last week and it went to static on channel 100 and I switched to the 80s for a second and that channel sounded like it did months before Stern was added.I had to catch the show again on 101 to hear that part of the show,no biggie.

Well, I have seen this before, you probably have a bad tuner. If it was on the Sirius side of things it would happen to everyone.

Having been through this I couldnt agree more... Is anyone else starting to think the entire starmate line is crap?? I hate to be a jerk but I had horrible experience wit my st1 and if you look around here enough you see a lot of probs with the ST2. At first I was pi$$ed because I couldnt afford a ST2. But now after reading some of these problems and after my experience I LOVE my visor. Yes its ugly, plain, simple... But most importantly it does the job and does it damned well.... dunno....sorry just needed a rant...

LOL yeh

The visor may not do everything that the more expensive ones does, but it's a lot more sturdy and a lot less break-prone than anything else out there.

I hate to admit it but I dropped my visor off my porch last week.... Didnt phase it... Probly just lucky but I think thats a testament to the construction of it.....
