Default aquiring signal

goodmorning.. i have an alpine 9853 headunit with the sir-alp1 sirius connect.... i purchased the sirius off ebay used.. hooked it up with no problem and started recieving all the channels... that was about 3 weeks ago.. last wednesday during a heavy rain i lost signal, and it hasn't come back on since.. i've done lots of reading and can't figure out this problem... when i turn the ignition on.. it goes to ch 255 and displays my ESN. when i go to change channels.. it's blank, or says aquiring signal and there is NO audio coming through..... i've purchased a new antenna.. with no luck.. still has this problem... i've talked to sirius and they suggested that i leave the unit on undisturbed for a couple of hours to see if it will download the music program channels.. but this hasn't worked...
Is there any "master reset" on the SIR-ALP1 unit itself? There are 4 small yellow led's inside the unit that are flashing..also 8 jumper pins.. is there anything that i can do to reset or resurrect this sirius reciever? any help would be greatly appreciated... THANKS :\

Does your HU have a reset?

I would unplug the tuner (both power and AI net cable) and turn the HU on for a few minutes. Then turn the HU off and plug the tuner back in.

Seems like the Sirius tuner is shot. Are you stuck with it since you got it from ebay?

This is not an isolated problem.

I have the same exact problem with a Sportster and I have seen the same problem in other threads on the board.

It just says aquiring signal or the display will show the correct info but I will get no sound.

When I change the channel it briefly displays the data then goes to aquiring signal.

I have tried reset to factory. Swapped antennas. Nothing helps.

I put my other radio in this cradle and it works fine.

Eventually the radio will start working then quit again.

Sirius.... WHATS THE DEAL?

Check your antenna wire. i had this problem in two of my vehicles, twice in one of them. The antenna wire can get kinked or even damaged over time depending on how it was routed. I noticed a bigger problem with setups where the antenna wire is routed into the car via the drivers side door. In our third car it comes in through the trunk and has nver caused a problem. Just rerouted both trucks antennas to come in through the rear , being very careful to keep the wire kink and crease free. Back to mostly 3 bars of signal.

I have the exact same problem with my Sportster (SP-1). However, I know the problem lies within the radio itself. I have 2 sportsters (and SP-1 and and SP-1A), 2 car kits (1 in my wife's car and 1 in mine) and a home kit. The SP-1, which is 2 years old, started dropping sound (even though the display was correct) every once in a while. Then, after about 2 weeks of the problem becoming more frequent, it just began displaying "aquiring signal". It doesn't matter if I plug the SP-1 into either car or the home kit, it doesn't work. However, the SP-1A works in all of the setups. Thus, the SP-1 is bad. It's probably something that can be repaired, but with the 2nd radios being so cheap right now, I'll probably just get another.
