Default Sirius Rep

Hi everyone -- I work in the Natty Boh Tower (big red winking guy building) and usually get 3 bars inside with awesome reception. The connection was lost with everyone else yesterday.

I talked to two Sirius reps today. One told me she had to send a signal that would take five minutes to clear up my problem. Obviously she didn't have clue.

The next guy I called went through the normal BS then finally admitted that the FCC caused some repeaters to be turned off which is the problem. He has no idea when it will be fixed and offered no solution at all. He was nice, said he was sorry, but was otherwise useless.

Man, that's aggravating. We've got two receivers here in the office that we'll need to cancel if they don't get their ducks in a row.

Have a good weekend everyone...Dan

I'm parked about three blocks from the repeater in an outdoor lot, and can see the Legg-Mason building out my window, and my receiver is "aquiring". Everyone gets a different story it seems. My first call was redirected to dealer service, where they thought I was a car dealer having trouble activating a new install. The second call, after being put on hold for a loooong while, confirmed the repeater was not working, but assured me it wasn't an FCC problem like in Harrisburg, and would be fixed soon. We'll see.

Hey everyone,

I don't know about you, but at around 3:00 pm today I get a full TER signal in my office for a little while, and it goes back to acquiring, then it will be back on for a little bit, and now back to acquiring... and now back on! What's going on here?!

I'm walking distance from there. My office is on Boston St near Lakewood Ave.

I'm really pissed at this. I called yesterday and they tried that B.S. about sending a signal to my receiver that would take 5 to 20 minutes.

If this is not cleared up I will cancel. No sense paying for the service if I can't listed where I use it the most.

Default FULL Signal

At home now and have a full Terrestrial signal. While driving down 83S and through the city I had anywhere from 75% to 100% the entire time.

Hopefully it will stay that way.

Same here. Terrestrial signal is back up to a solid 80% at home. Driving around tonight, my car radio also maintained a solid signal all throughout downtown. Keep your fingers crossed!

Doubt that's even possible.

I thought I was getting the Greenbelt repeater yesterday. Well, the Baltimore repeater is back up, not by anything but maintenance.

Default Call or email Sirius

I would encourage everyone experiencing repeater problems to call or email Sirius and make a complaint because we need to put pressure on them to repair these repeaters and to share with us subscribers what is going on. Also, I see nothing wrong with asking for a credit each month that your service is interrupted because of a faulty repeater no matter what the cause (unless you have a lifetime subscription, of course). The point is we are all paying for a service we are not getting. If any one of us would have subscribed with a newly purchased unit and didn't get a signal very much, we would have returned the unit and cancelled our subscription. Those in Harrisburg and Baltimore and elsewhere with lack of a signal due to a faulty repeater are now paying for a service we are not getting and so the only way through this is to get a credit or cancel until the problem is resolved. With no complaints, Sirius may actually believe the problem is with individual units instead of a down repeater.

You'd think Sirius would monitor their own repeater. Geez, crazy. I was looking at their jobs and one of them had something to the effect of building a repeater monitoring system.

Default Sirius

is giving me the impression that they do not care about Harrisburg or Baltimore. I am in the Harrisburg area and can no longer listen at work or home. I can listen in my car. My usage has gone way down. I spent money on a sportster, one car kit and two home kits. What a waste. It is soon time for all us to write letters to the Better Business Bureau. Maybe consumer reports or newspapers. Sirius is not even answering inquires about this .. Stern is not speaking about this either .. I am fed up ...

Dude, the Baltimore repeater is up and running. They were doing maintenance and pulled the switch back on after it...

As for Harrisburg, completely agree. My aunt had enough and went back to FM. (XM didn't work either)

Default Baltimore Repeater Lowering Wattage?

Man, it looks like there may be some truth to this. I'm in the Natty Boh Tower and used to hit 3 bars all day long prior to the repeater problem. Now that it's back on, in the early morning (around 6:00 AM - 7:30 AM), I get two bars and decent reception. After that, during normal business hours, it's crap. It drops songs, goes into [Acquiring Signal] mode, etc.

Does anyone know why they'd drop wattage? Sounds like an FCC thing to me.

Later, Dan

It is FCC. Maybe that "they are doing maintenance" thing had more to it than we knew.
