Default 2007 Lexus RX400h Starbase dealer install

after some confusion, thanks to the dealership's utter lack of information, regarding what exactly is available for the 2007 Lexus RX400h as far as Sirius goes, it turned out that it's an after-market install, and not integrated into the stereo. i only found this out at the 11th hour and was quite upset, as i expected an integrated/hardwired solution.

regardless, we got the car, and the dealer install is clean and tidy. it's hardwired to the antenna. the sound isn't quite as good as the RCA hardwired Acura MDX, but it sounds pretty decent.

now, if only car makers would stop putting plastic-made-to-look-sort-of-like-wood in my cars, i'd be all set.

it looks ok, but i must admit, im kinda shocked that a $40,000+ vehicle wouldnt offer sirius as an option...you got a nice clean install though...

it looks so aftermarket though in such a BEAUTIFUL ride...kudos for the RX...looks sick.

it's not a matter of price-point. it's a matter of sirius making deals with car companies. apparently they haven't sorted out the kinks with lexus, on this particular model (other models, i believe, have a fully-integrated solution).

as far as the funky display goes, i was messing with contrast and brightness, which might explain why it's all jacked up. it looks fine now, especially from 18 inches. these screens weren't designed to be viewed from 1/2 inch.

I thought Lexus would have worked out a contract already with Sirius too. That is one reason I decided not to get a IS250 AWD. I decided to go the the G to get Sirius.

The install in your rx400h looks great though.

sjharris, from what i understand (and this is mostly from hearsay and speculation), they were rolling out the integrated sirius, and realized there were some glitches. they didn't want to release the product until all the kinks were sorted out.

but hey, it's a cleaner install than my last, and i'm happy to be able to have sirius in my new car, even if it's not hardwired.

if anyone is wondering, they charged about 550 for the radio and install. i'll save that much on gas this month with the hybrid. well, not really, but i like to think so.
