Unhappy Should replace the anntena AGAIN !!!!

My new ST4 is looking for the signal all the time. I just installed it last month.I placed the anntena on top of the roof. I was careful to run the wires so they can't get pinched. So two days ago, I lost reception.. I figured need to replace the anntena. I had a Starmate replay and went thru 2 anntena, although that's becuase I connect and disconnect taking the unit in and out of the car. I figure the plugs was the weakest link... So I got this unit and installed it in the car and swore never to move it again.. Again Two days ago I lost reception.. So I am throwing a fit driving to work and I set the unit up to watch signal strength.. I'll be damn I get 10 bars from the local terrestrial repeaters.. and beautiful sound.. but as soon as I move out of the repeater zone, it drops to zero for satillite coverage? So is the anntena shot or what?

Let me get this straight... you get 10 bars on terrestrial, 10 for satellite and when you move out of the repeater zone you get 0 on terrestrial and 0 for satellite?

Sure sounds like it's the antenna. There are actually two antennas in the enclosure, one for sat and one for terrestrial repeater reception. Sounds like something on the sat antenna portion isn't right.

Nope I get 10 bars terrestrial and ZERO for satellite.. My anntena looks to the side and not upper ward it appears.. If I could figure out how to mount it on my van... I'd use a marine anntena. It looks like it has more gain, than a car antenna.

I think the home antenna's are directional and have to be aimed.. I saw a
ad for a trucker anntena SR-3652 Sirius. Looks like it might hold up better.
It has a heavy duty coax, not that spider thread wire on the car anntenas.

They are directional if you point them at the wrong place. I've tried the home antenna straight up in Columbus and never a drop out.
