Default Repeater reception question...

I've posted a few questions recently because my reception got bad in the last week. Since January I use a window sill antenna on a west facing window that has a small angle peak at the north west.

I have been playing with different locations on the window sill and I finally am receiving 6 bars on the TER signal.

The question is this - what factors would cause my repeater reception to deteriorate. I would expect that once I placed the antenna and got good reception, that would be the end of it. The weather has been fine and so I wouldn't expect that to be an issue and as I mention it used to be fine in the position it was AND my assumption is I can get good reception on the radio if the repeater signal is good and the SAT reception is non existent.

Would the problem be some problem with the repeater such that when I have problems I just call Sirus and bug them till its corrected?

I would think it would be measured based on how far the signal is and if it can see it.

The signal should remain constant. You probably will see some minor fluctiations due to atmospheric conditions.

It's possible for strange things to happen. For instance if there are two layers of air above your region with a large temperature difference, the boundary can reflect UHF signals. This will cause your antenna to receive two signals.. (One directly from the repater and the other reflected from the sky). If the reflected signal from the sky is out of phase, it can reduce the signal from the repeater. (But don't worry.. these things happen rarely).

There's some reading here: http://www.tpub.com/content/neets/14...s/14182_95.htm

Yep.. Let them know. It usually takes a few complaints before they act. If everyone waits for someone else to complain, then no complaints will be registered

I'm in orange county, and I'm not getting a signal anymore. Is anyone else experiencing this?
