Default Any cures for miserable signal?

My only window in apartment does not have line of site to the sirius satellite and I am not receiving any signals. It continually searches for a signal, but comes up a failure.

I live in an apartment and cannot put an outside antenna nor transmission line on outside of building. Is there anything I can do to get at least a minimal signal. The building does have cable capability and a separate antenna on roof for those who do not want to invest in cable TV. I can't believe that because I live on the wrong side of the apartment house I am doomed to no satellite reception.

Help

When I used to live in a apartment. I put a small aluminum platform just out side my window. Just one good screw is all you need. Or you could use velcro. First hold the antenna outside the window with your hand, and see if you get a signal. If you get a signal than do the small platform with the cable out the bottom of your window. If you have a awning or gutter above your window point away from it. Still no signal. Then you may have to move to a different unit. Get a unit where antenna will point in the optimal direction. Or just settle for the internet subscription. Good luck.

That's the problem with satellites... If you can't see them, you can't receive them. Many apartment dwellers that only have widows to the north can't get satellite TV.

Unlike satellite TV, Sirius and XM have repeaters to make up for situations where you can't see the satellites, but they can't put them in every town in North America. (XM does has the advantage of having more repeaters).

You can buy a Cable Distribution System . This might allow you to mount an antenna on the roof and use the existing cable to get the signal back to your apartment. I don't know how well it would work in your situation, but it might be worth considering.

newsflash - many xm listeners receive perfect signal without being able to "see" the satellite or repeaters -- this problem is bigger for siri then for xmsr.

If you look at my quote again, you'll see I never mentioned REPEATERS.. I said if you can't see the SATELLITES you can't pick up the signal.

Repeaters are land based and the signal can be almost a billion times stronger than the satellite signal. A repeater signal will penetrate walls and trees etc.. They are also low to the ground so they beam into windows very nicely.... Because of this, if you're close enough to a repeater, you don't have to "see" it. This applies to Sirius just as well as XM... (The XM advantage lies in the fact that they have a LOT more repeaters).

If you live in an area with no XM repeaters and you live in a concrete building with only north windows and no view of the south sky, you won't get an XM signal. The XM satellite signal is fundimentally no different than the Sirius satellite signal. The only difference is XM birds are fixed in the sky.

Oh yeah cause they have the newer more advanced Beovian signal that isn't line of sight. Keep inventing fake technology.
