Default Starmate (Original) showing 3 bars, acquring signal

I've had this Starmate ST1 in my car for about a year now, no problems. This morning I picked up the home kit so I could listen in my office. Unfortunately, I can't seem to get anything besides the clock and the "Acquring Signal" message. I have a constant 3 bars of sat signal. The antenna is inside my office on the window ledge, because the window I have doesn't open. My window faces directly south. I have moved the antenna around, and depending on where I move it, I either get 0 bars or 3 bars, nothing in between or anything more than 3. Any ideas, or am I screwed?

EDIT: I'm in Thunder Bay, Ontario, Canada. About 500 miles north of Minneapolis.

3 bars of signal is a fence. If you are a little to the right of the fence, signal can be good. A little to the left and you get acquiring signal. For you, it seems you have tried to move it a bit. Usually constant 3 bars after adjusting with the acquiirng signal error is an equipment error. Possibly the docking station or antenna since you have no problem in your vehicle.
