Default How good should my Satellite Signal Be

I have the S50 with the newest Micro Dot antenna and I feel like I'm not getting the best satellite reception in my car. At best I'll get 75% reception, but usually I get 50% reception or below. This means that when I'm driving through some Woody backstreets, reception is sure to cut out.

I have never seen it get to 100%... even in a wide open parking lot!

The antenna is on the roof of the car so I don't know what the problem can be. Should I be experiencing better reception?

That doesn't sound right...

My old Audiovox PNP2 got full signal most of the time with the antenna on the dash.. My new Stratus with the micro antenna also gets full signal most of the time with the antenna on the dash..

Edit.. Just to add.. If you are fairly close to a repeater, it will desensitize the receiver and your satellite signal will drop. It will dissapear if you get close enough... You'll never get full satellite strength if you're close to a repeater.

Where are you located? Like the other guy that replied, I get pretty solid full reception, even without repeaters. I am up in MA and have driven north as far as southern Maine with no problems (except for dense tree areas). I am using the stiletto with home and car docks. The least I have seen with the home dock is two bars. Like everyone else, I would suggest taking a closer look at your setup if you think it should be better.
What reciever are you using?

Your antenna may have a "kink" in it. If you have a spare antenna or a friend that has one, borrow it. If the other antenna does well, you know what the issue is.

Good luck.

well there are only 3 real levels in this antenna aiming setup. 100% divided by 3 is 33.33333333333333333333333333333333333333333333333 33333333333333333333333333333333333333333333...... %

so 2 bars would be 66.66666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666 6666666666666666666666666666666666........% signal.
