Default Subscription Renewal?

I've noticed that my subscription will be up around the middle of December. Will Sirius try to contact me about a renewal or do I just have to remember and go online to renew it? I thought maybe they'd send some mail or e-mail with some holiday specials.

Unless they've changed policy in the last year or so, they'll just renew you at your current subscription level (year, two years etc) and bill your CC.. (This has really surprised a few subscribers who just wanted to let their sub run out and didn't know they had to tell Sirius )...

I can't believe anyone would actually pay for this garbage music. I am canceling my dish cause the music has been changed to this sirius crap. The music is the worst possible crap I have ever heard.

Do you all honestly pay for this?

as far as being commercial free, what is with the comments with each friggen song?

hear nothing but robert altman comments all day long today.

What a 1st post there genius, you go on to a SIRIUS fan website and spout that garbage. The XM fan sites would love you but over here you will not be seen as very cool critizing a user about renewing a subscription for a service that we like.

How's the music any different? I didn't know Sirius had their own music, what's the channel on that?

Hey RobbyP, I got this answer directly from SIRIUS themselves and I'll tell you what to look for. First off I could be wrong (it was never made clear in your original post) but I'm going to assume you are approaching the end of an annual plan for simplicity reasons. Believe it or not there are two types of "plans" you may be on and that makes all the difference right there. If you log onto your SIRIUS account and see "1 Year Plan" that means it will automatically renew on the same credit card for the same amount and for the same period of time you previously had with no action required on your part. However, if you see "1 Year Subscription" this means that the radio will no longer be active after the end date unless you take action and call SIRIUS to set up payment details and so on.

I just reviewed my account and it said Annual Service and gave me an option to upgrade to the 2 year plan. My question is with the Annual Service will it automatically renew my sub. or will it all of a sudden stop and then I'll have to re-activate my unit. I activated my unit on 12/25/05 and it will be done 1/25/07. Any ideas?

Two things.

Anual service means that it will try to renew with the credit card that is on file on the day the subscription comes up for renewal.

The second thing is that unless my math is wrong, and it has been known to happen, a year is still 12 months and your subscription is due for renewal on 12/25/06.

You're math is correct. I got an extra month free when I subscribed. At least that's what I was told over the phone when I activated the unit.

Just looking at my billing history, I got screwed out of a month.

I bought my sportster on 1/27 and activated it on 1/31 of 05. Now my updates are all on the first day of July and January.
That kinda sucks.

Post 12-Month Subs

You pay for 11 months and get the 12th month free.
