Default Denver Area Troubles

I just moved back to Denver a month ago. Perfect reception until like Sunday or Monday this week. Now it keeps cutting in and out no matter what time of day... however, I have a full signal strength (3 bars on front screen, half Sat and Full Ter on aiming screen). Anyone else having problems? Could it be the unit itself?

Hey, i am having the same problem. I just posted about it in another thread, i think i put it in the wrong category though. Here is the gist:

My sportster replay has been working great for the most part over the past 9 months....but this is the second time in about a month and a half i have run into a weird problem.

The music starts getting very choppy and keeps going to "acquiring signal". The weird part is, the 3 bars on the bottom show full signal.

When i go into the menu->signal strength option i see that both the sat and terr signal strengths are going between full and half full showing that is is getting a pretty good signal. It seems that whenever the terr signal maxes out the music skips. When I was almost to work this morning the skipping finally stopped and when i checked the signal strengths the sat signal was still in the high range but the terr signal was only 3 or 4 bars now.

Has anyone ever ever seen this?? I am in the Denver, CO area.

-Mike

Similar problems in other major cities. It's really bad here in Los Angeles.

Default Same problem

I'm havingthe same problem here in Denver. The radio cuts in and out with no change in the signal strength meters. Has anyone heard why or when it will be fixed? I'm in the car 2 hours a day and this is starting to tick me off.

Angry Exact same problem

I'm having the exact same problem here in north Denver (Broomfield). I have 2 sportster replays inside the house. Both have worked fine as long as I've had them (10 months and 2 months). I first noticed the problem Monday morning (November 20).

Same issue for me, Castle Rock to Broomfield area. Streamer GTR, worked flawlessly for about a year, then this cutting in and out, which is damned annoying. Interesting it seemed (for me atleast) to cut in and out worse on like Blue Collar Comedy, versus say Sirius Hits 1...but whenever it cut out, same as you guys, full signal strength, but still "Acquiring Signal".

Interesting I was listening about 10-20 seconds behind live radio and it was jumping all over, I was listening to comedy and you couldn't even follow it, like 5 seconds of one bit, then 5 seconds of the audio right before that, then jumped to 10 seconds later...just a mess...I was reading up on how Sirius does their signal and they stagger satellite and ground stations by about 4 seconds I guess, it sounded like to me maybe that 4 seconds was trashed or the radio was interperting the audio wrong and putting it together wrong. Not sure, but definetly a problem.

So has anyone actually called customer service about this? I was going to, then (to not look stupid) decided to look online first...and found this...

I have not called.... I called Sirius CS once... they promised me a brand new Sportster since mine was messing up.... never to hear from them again.....

SO needless to say, I'm not going to waste my day speaking with those people... really sad that it has come to that though... (but not turning this thread into that discussion).

Someone who has an extra hour and a lot of patience should definitely call!

Default SO Annoying

Well after smacking the shit out of my sportster replay for the last 5 days, pulling the antenna, and going nuts I came across this site. Thanks for letting me know its just not me, I just hope that when things return to normal that so does my reciever because it has been taking a BEATING. Good thing Howard is on vacation, oh and I am in Denver also, suffering.

Default Yup, I'm there too.

I'm in the southern Denver suburbs (Centennial, if you must know) and I'm having problems on both radios.

I did call customer service to see if there were any known issues and got the expected "no everything's fine, take your car to the dealer and have them look at it".

I'll give it a day or two, but if it doesn't start working I'm going to cancel. I spend way too much time in the car to hear 1/2 of every song.

DS

PS: It's actually a lot worse today than it was yesterday.

Default Jumped the gun

Apparently there's a much more thorough thread on this topic.

Default Denver troubles for me, too!

Wow. I am surprised to find that others have posted this as well. I went from perfect reception for 2 years in Downtown Denver (no dropouts, ever) to terrible reception on Sunday or Monday. It was like it happened overnight. I keep getting the message "Aquiring Signal" (or something like that) just about EVERY TWO SECONDS. Nothing like this has ever happened before. I cannot get a steady signal.

I have the PNP2 and I know that if we all noticed the same thing, all within the last few days, then it's no "just our radios" as Sirius seems to be claiming to some people who have called.

Any thoughts?

By the way, I decided to bring my PNP2 in from the car to test it inside...and now I get the message "antenna not detected". This has never happened to me before, either. Everything is connected. Anyone have this problem?

Default Denver signal

It seems to be back to normal now.

Overall - a bad customer service experience.
