Default Down in Denver

In the Denver metro area - I started having problems on Monday. A buddy called me and told me he was having problems. I emailed Sirius and mentioned that I was having a problem as was a friend of mine, therefore they could rule out an isolated problem. Their response: there's a loose connection, go to the place that installed your radio and get them to check it. WT...? So I replied to their response and told them their answer was insufficient that the odd of my friend having the exact same problem on the exact same day was doubtfully due to a loose connection. They responded to me this morning that there are transponder problems in the area and they are addressing the situation.

You know, I'm almost more ticked that the Customer Service Dept tried to answer my issue with one of their canned responses without investigating the problem.

Sure hope this gets resolved soon - my interruptions are pretty constant.
Anyone know if you can get a partial refund if you cancel after paying annually?

Default Denver repeater

Hey folks,
I just drove from Denver to Omaha today and I'll you know my experiences below...

My wife and I both had bad reception starting yesterday morning. I drove to DIA (Denver International Airport...for those of you that don't live in the area. ) last night and I couldn't even listen to Sirius because it was dropping out like crazy! I noticed the drop-outs only happened when the TERR signal was at full strength. (It made sitting in the 45 min lot hell!)

This morning, we couldn't listen to Sirius until we got to around the Brighton exit on I-76 (out of repeater range) and then Sirius worked wonderfully. The rest of the 7 hour drive I only has 2 quick drop-outs (once in Lincoln and the other in Omaha where the repeaters are yet to be active).

I wish there was a way on my Starmate Replay to reject TERR signals...maybe that should be a hack we could download...

Anyway, here in Omaha, Sirius rocks!!!!

GO BIG RED! Kick some Buffalo a$$!

Just FYI, I e-mailed Sirius about this tonight, didn't expect to hear anything, but got this as a reply...in my e-mail I mentioned several times that I know they are well aware that many people are having this problem...so maybe that's why I didn't get the snow-job...not a bad response though...

Dear Eric,

Thank you for contacting SIRIUS regarding your current reception issue.
We are more than happy to assist you!

Actually, Eric, after doing some research, we found that out of the 3
terrestrial repeaters that are in and around that particular area of
Denver, 1 of them is experiencing issues, which, in turn, is causing
your reception problem. So, yes, Eric, we are aware of the situation in
the Denver area and are working diligently to resolve it as soon as
possible. We greatly apologize for any inconveniences that this may be
causing you and are confident that our technicians will have the issue
resolved within the next 12 hours.

Again, Eric, we apologize and appreciate your patience concerning the
issue. Thank you for contacting SIRIUS and have a great night!

We are committed to providing you with the best in customer care. If
you have any more questions, please feel free to contact SIRIUS Customer
Care. For your convenience, we are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a
week at:

Default Reception problems in Los Angeles

I posted on another thread, but will repeat my post here, in hopes that Sirius will listen to our problem. So my Sirius radio is in my car. My job is driving in Los Angeles. Right around the 13th of November my radio signal started dropping constantly. This made my radio "unlistenable". Dealing with customer service has been a NIGHTMARE. Most of them act as if I'm an isolated incident. One of them said it must be a problem with my radio or antenna. As a result I bought a new Sirius One radio, went through the hassle of installing it, and ended up with the same problem. I called Sirius for the 10th time a couple of days ago, fed up with the poor reception and awful customer service and requested to cancel my subscription. They transferred me once again and said the problem was with my radio. The woman I spoke with there said “The Sirius One radio is an inferior product”. This doesn’t explain why my old radio has worked fine for the past 11 months. Well their solution was to send me a new radio (at no charge) and they said this should solve the problem. I seriously doubt trying one more radio will solve the problem, but I figure I might as well give it a try. Many of us seem to be paying for a product that is not working. As much as I don't want to, if Sirius doesn't acknowledge this problem and resolve it soon, I will be forced to cancel my subscription and sign up with XM. From what I've been hearing, they have not been experiencing these signal drop outs. I just emailed Sirius @ www.sirius.com/customercare in hopes that they might listen to our problem.

XM is flawless. I drive from Rancho Cucamonga to Mid-Wilshire every day and the signal is perfect. Cut your losses. Sirius is doinf us all wrong and is not deserving of the money we all work so hard to earn.

Thanks for the advise, I will probably follow it if Sirius keeps ignoring this huge problem. I miss having satellite radio, and the worst part is that I'm paying for a service that doesn't work.

Default Sirius customer service is clueless!

So their online customer care just emailed me back stating:

"Thank you for contacting SIRIUS regarding your reception.

"What you need to do, is change your FM frequency. Your car
radio
and your SIRIUS receiver need to be set to the same FM radio station.
It is best to choose a frequency that is not being used by a local
radio
station. Instructions on how to set your frequency, are found in your
manual under FM transmitter options. If you are still having trouble
with static, you may need to purchase an FM modulator. This allows you
to block any local FM stations and can be purchased online at the....."

I'VE HAD MY SIRIUS RADIO FOR ALMOST A YEAR. IT IS UNBELIEVABLE THAT THEY ASSUME THAT I ALL OF A SUDDEN DON'T KNOW HOW TO SET MY RADIO TO THE RIGHT FREQUENCY. IT REALLY SEEMS HOPELESS DEALING WITH THEIR "CUSTOMER NONSERVICE"

I was getting a full signal yesterday (just outside of Philly) but it kept saying "aquiring signal"

I'm hoping I don't the same today

The reception problems in Denver sound like they have been fixed. I didn't have any issues today.

I'm sticking with Sirius, thank you.

Happy Thanksgiving

I had some issues on Tuesday here in Columbia... driving into a Chick-fil-A on MD Rte 100, the signal was dropping out, even with a clear, open sky. We thought it was our antenna!

I had a problem on Thanksgiving driving from buffalo to Albany (west to east) and on the way home... it would cut out about 3 seconds after going under a bridge... I have a 2000 Jeep Cherokee with a Jensen Head unit and the Sirius Connect (installed correctly) 1st time having a problem since i got the head unit over 1 year ago.

well, this thread is more directed toward the dropouts that are constant. I mean every second or two. This has been a nightmare in Los Angeles and Sirius won't even acknowledge it. I've already cancelled my service over it, but the radio is still on until the end of the billing cycle, so I've been following the progress (or lack thereof) of this issue. I've come in contact with some others who are having the same problem and want to gather as much information as possible. I'd still love to hear from people in other areas of the U.S. that may be affected though.
