I'm in Grand Junction listening from a dorm and the reception cuts in and out in the afternoon and early morning. It's quite frustrating. If anyone knows of anything I can do, I'd appreciate it.

You may need a cord extender because 30 feet really isn't that far when you go up and around things to get it where you want.
thanks for the feedback bro!

I have found a nice little surprise with my sportster 4 boombox. if I use the pause feature for say 5 minutes, I don't get the drop outs anymore. not sure if it acts like a buffer or not but it seems to work.

Default Nil Signal In NYC metro

I drive a truck in the NYC area and have had major problems with reception in the past week and especially today. Started driving at 7:30 am and had "aquiring sig" on my radio till about 1:00 pm. Even when it started working reception was spotty. I've always had excellent reception with my antenna before this. Anyone else in the NYC area having trouble?

My signal this morning sucked! I feel this is the result of the old sattelite (sirius-1) this sat is old and used to be used for TV channels. Why sirius didnt put a new sat in its place is beyond me.I have looked at the sattelite map and usually when my recption sucks its Sirius -1 .

A display of "acquiring signal" can only mean one thing. No signal. If it was a power issue the unit would not even show a display, if it was a broken antenna the display would show "no antenna". Something is definitely up with reception lately, my unit has always worked perfectly up until a week ago. And besides that, I work within a mile of the Stamford, Ct repeater. There are a LOT of people complaining about poor reception. I even tried another known working antenna and got "acquiring signal". Sirius needs to let us know what's going on. We pay good money for our subscriptions........

Similar problems in Phoenix. I am at my desk at work. Signal was fine ever since I bought my unit in 2005 until the beginning of this week. The the unbearable cutting in and out and now nothing...Wow is this frustrating. I get nothing unless I am in the car. C'mon Sirius, don't screw over the people that pay for your service.

I've been out in Vegas half of today, almost all of yesterday, and most of the rest of the week. It keeps popping and going off, then back on for like 2 seconds, then back off.

Peterman, I'm also in Phoenix, but having the issues in the car, not when docked at home. I have an S50, it shows a signal bar, but says no signal. Time to try the sportster to see if I have the same issue before dealing with the customer no service folks. Glad to hear I'm not the only Phoenician with the problem!

Cool. I have the Sportster4 Replay. Never a problem in the car. Funny, the day after I posted this my signal was back to normal. Barley any drop outs. I was praying that somebody actually reads these posts and tries to fix the problems.

However, the signal was back to horrible this week. Oh so very frustrating. If you call CS, please post what they say. Thanks.

Thumbs down

I'm in lynnwood Washington and used to get about 75% of the terrestrial signal on my S50 in the home dock. Lately I've been getting 25% and it's really getting annoying and frustrating. If I can't get a decent signal to record channel 100, what's the point. Sent an email to Sirius and 3 days later, no reply. I guess I'll try the outdoor antenna...

Default Micro Dot Antennas

I just got done reading the micro dot antenna thread and it seems that was my problem with the constant "acquiring sig" display. I changed it out with another antenna and now I get perfect sigs. If you are using one of these POS micro dot antennas, chances are that's your problem.

Huh? Sirius-1 was never a TV satellite, and it's not too old. I think your possibly thinking about the Swedish TV satellite called Sirius? That sat is completely unrelated to Sirius Sat Radio.

Here's news of Sirius-1's launch:

Default Poor signal in upstate NY

For the last 2 weeks or so the reception in my car has been terrible. It started being bad only when it was raining, but now when I drive there's only a signal for 5-10 minutes of every hour. Reception at home is still OK.

I have the old, huge Audiovox shuttle SIRPNP2. The antenna is relatively new. An auto mechanic broke the antenna cable while I was getting an oil change last year, so the antenna is only about 7 months old. Is it true that my antenna might be the problem? I can't BELIEVE that I have to pay another $100 for a new antenna installation!!! I know the wire isn't broken again, because it would say "Antenna not detcted", not "Acquiring Signal".

Has anyone gotten a straight answer from Sirius yet?

I'm in Phoenix too. I don't know WTF is going on here. I have no problems with my Starmate Replay in one car, and constant acquiring signal in the other car which has a Starbase that I had since 2005. The Starbase reports a full bar of SAT, but does the "ACQUIRING SIGNAL" thing for ages usually.
