I am in the Dallas area and about 2 weeks ago I started having getting the "acquiring signal" message when I turned on my Sportster for a while. Now, I get it a lot. It seems to be getting worse. I noticed on my drive home last night, that i had a little TER signal and almost no SAT signal. I thought my unit or antenna had gone bad.

After five weeks of working only part of the time, it worked perfectly all last week. I assumed that they had finally taken care of whatever issues they've been having in my area. I get in the car to go to work this morning, and I couldn't get a signal for my entire 30 minute drive. Something is up, and it's not limited to a certain geographic area.

I live in RI (Newport area) and I am pleased to say that the Sirius reception is far better than the XM

I get many more dropouts in specific areas and none of which are repeated with Sirius.

Pleasing their current customers seemingly ranks low in Sirius' priority.

Anyone living outside of Boston (Northshore) having any problems with the dreaded Acquiring Signal Problem. I thought my old Sirius Starmate Replay and Antenna (In Car) needed an update. Bought a whole new Radio and Car kit on Tuesday 6/22/2007. Still have the same problem. The Sirius Customer Care Folks have actually been nice. But I get the same line over and over that the Repeater Stations in the Boston Area (there are 3) are all up and running. I was also told on Tuesday night there was a "Satellite" problem and that this was resolved. The Infamous and Dubious Dogstar Repeater site states no downed repeaters in the Boston area. I really think this is a Reference Site and is not a Real-Time site with up to date Information about Repeater Stations (actually I just got confirmation on this). Had a similar Problem like this back in January of this year

Does anyone know if there is something Sirius is doing to maintain signal strength in Central NJ???
I live in Monmouth County and I've been getting constant dropouts and rarely get more than two bars on the signal meter. I expect this on roads with heavy tree cover but I get it even with clear, unobstructed views of the sky!

I originally thought it was the starmate replay I had been using so, I switched to the Stiletto 10 but it gets even more dropouts.

Is anyone else having signal issues in Chicago today? I am in downtown and Lincoln Park on my Stiletto home docks that face west windows, and also my car Sirius, but my Stiletto home dock that faces an east window towards the Lincoln Park repeater seemed OK. This is the first time I've had bad signal problems with the Stiletto.

My s50 has been dropping it off and on for the last month. I hadn't moved the antenna, and moving it now isn't helping. My car drops the signal in the city more often these days as well.

At least at home, it seems worse in the early AM.

Same situation here, in the River North area (400 block of W Erie). I could always get a signal with home dock, but signal degraded over the past month. This weekend, I can barely get a signal, making it totally unusable. Extremely frustrated!

Have they relocated repeaters or adjusted them?

Question Phoenix Drop Outs

Here in Phoenix I have been experiencing drop outs in areas where I normally get good reception. I even put in a new micro dot antenna and still have them. I have the Kenwood Sirius Direct tuner in my car and the S100 at home, work and on the go. For no reason I have noticed the terrestrial signal would cut out for a second then come back. When I go out of town and away from the repeater I get perfect reception. These hick ups in the signal only happens in the repeater coverage area. Here is something strange. I work inside a large building that manufactures electronics and I have my S100 in my dock with the home antenna point straight up and I can get two to three bars from the satellites inside the building. I am not near any windows either. The roof kind of looks like the inside of the newer Wal-marts were you can look up and see the metal cross beams and the white pillow insulation. There is also all kinds of wiring running across the ceiling. I was shocked that I could get the sats inside since at home I cannot get one bar from the sats inside if I am lucky. I have to rely on the repeater at home.

The indoor signal here in Vegas for me is terrible. It is out today 50% of the time, acquiring signal, and no movement of the antenna helps. I can't even listen.

Default No signal in Columbia, MD

Just wanted to make sure I wasn't going crazy and I'm glad I found this website! I've been recording on my S50 for about 5 months now with no problems. About 3 weeks ago, my shows stopped recording because of a no signal problem. Couldn't find a signal for 2 weeks, then it showed up for a week and now this week I'm back to no signal. I can't tell from the posts whether I should be buying a new antenna, or if there's a problem within Sirius. I've always suspected it was a satellite problem, but I'm not sure. My signal is fine in the car, it's just in the office and at home that I can't seem to find a signal.

If I buy a new home antenna does anyone have suggestions? Does a car antenna work for home dock?

Yes the car antenna will work with the home dock. All the antennas have the same plug. My local Wal-Mart has discount shelf and I picked up three Xact Visor Car Kits for $5.00 each. A good deal since they normally go for around $30 in the stores. I plan to use the car antennas for my new home antenna set up. The other spare parts that came with the kit like the power supply(12V) and the stands I will sell to my friend who has two Xact Visors.

Default Acquiring Signal for two weeks now

I'll just add my name to the list...

I’ve been a SIRIUS subscriber for 4 years. Had an original Sportster and replaced it with a Sportster4 about 3 weeks ago.

Week 1: no problems
Week 2: suddenly the signal is gone, "acquiring Signal" shows up

I call Sirius and they guide me through a number of checks and system resets, nothing. Sirius customer service determines receiver is faulty; replace it under the 30 day warranty.

Week3: I purchase a new receiver Sportster4 and again have the same problem. Sirius declares my receiver is faulty.

Both are brand new out of the box. I refuse to accept this lame explanation.

Seems like this has been a problem across the country. Misery loves company...but I want my Sirius working.

What can I do?
