I have the Sirius Sportster R and have the boombox to go with it. One at home one at work. For 2 years I have gotten perfect signal at work, antenna in front of window(one that will not open) nothing blocking it. Over the last week I pretty much get nothing but acquiring signal. Now the unit works great in the car so I don't think it's a bad unit. The boombox works at home so I don't think that is the issue either. I have also tried FOUR different antennas but still mostly all I get is acquiring signal. Sometimes music will pop on for a bit and at most I get 2 bars but that doesn't last long.

I have called Sirius and they really had nothing to suggest and told me everything in the Raleigh area was fine. Anyone ever run into this, having this problem in the area? Any suggestions would be great I am going crazy having to listen over the net.

Thanks
Glad to hear its not just me. getting "Acquiring Signal" all the time for the past few days here in Raleigh.

Have you called Sirius? I am sure they gave stellar help like I got. Something has changed somewhere they just want say it. But I guess if more people call they will look into it.

I am also glad it isn't just me. I have a cowork on a different part of the building getting the same issue as well. Really frustrating. Hope it comes back in VERY soon.

UNCGMAN, ZOOM... I was having a similar issue in Raleigh until late this morning. My radio is working fine now. Are you still having problems?

TRider,

I am still having the same problem unfortunately. Really strange and of course Sirius is just no help with this issue. They said they would give me two months free and to call back in that time. I hope that someday soon the signal will just pop back on. Really ruins the day, listening online is just not the same.

UNCMAN, sorry to hear of this frustrating problem. Just curious, what part of town are you having this problem? I was in my car around 40/440 & Hammond Rd. when I first experienced it, then it cleared up next time through.

Does anyone here know where in Raleigh I can get my Sirius installed and the prices for it.

I purchased one in Rocky Mount this weekend. Now I'm back in Raleigh and want to get it installed in my car.

Sirius Starmate ST1/indoor antenna--downtown Columbia, SC

I live literally 2 blocks away from the terrestrial repeater in Columbia (the one on Gervais St). I've noticed in the past few days the signal has been weak, and I keep getting the "acquiring signal" message. The antenna hasn't moved an inch since I put it in my window sill a year ago. I looked at the Menu/Signal Indicator to see that there were zero bars for the terrestrial repeater. I used to get full strength. Occasionally I get some satellite signal. Any ideas what happened to the terrestrial repeater?

As of today, I can no longer get the terrestrial repeater signal in and around my house in Hartsdale, NY and in certain sections of White Plains, NY. What happened to the repeater? I never lost the signal in my house.

Angry Signal cutting in and out...

I am central Wisconsin, whether I am in my house or in my car, the signal is continually cutting out for seconds at a time. Both antennas have a clear view of the sky.

Default Aquiring Signal

I have noticed a signal dropout this past week. Live in the Philadelphia suburbs, around Valley Forge. Not sure if it's time for a new antenna, just had one installed back in November 2007. What would cause them to go bad? This is my 4th car antenna.

One tip though for those who need new antennas or need installations. I called up Customer Service last night when I was having the problems of dropouts and after a little persuasion, they are going to send me a new antenna and installnet gift card... FREE of charge. I told them I either I can keep me as a subscriber or loose me... they saw things my way. Otherwise a new antenna and installation at Circuit City or Best Buy would've cost me over $120.

I set my reciever to my favorite channel and watched the Antenna Aiming section while driving home last night. The SAT strength meter fluctuated between 3-6/10 and TER actually read 7-10/10 in a few spots. It was dropping out like crazy. I'm wondering whether I need a new antenna or if there's a problem.

Either way, waiting for a new antenna and installation gift card... will update

Anyone else in Philadelphia area having issues?

Yeah, I'm having the same problems. Last couple of days driving in Bucks County and Trenton area I get frequent, short dropouts. I turned on my Antenna Aiming too and the Satellite strength jumps all over the place, even while sitting still at a light. I think they're having problems, and I hope it resolves soon.

I know for sure they are having problems. Yesterday my stiletto was dropping the signal like crazy. Every couple minutes or so and at time 3-4 times per minute.

I also resell radios on Ebay and I have been getting a lot of reports of radios not holding a signal so I know something is up. These reports all came at once.
Can someone from Sirius please address this problem??

I live in Alexandria, Va. and have a Starmate Boombox that I've had since Spet. '06. It drops out all the time now within the last week. Is it time to replace the boombox or should I wait?
