Are they perhaps robbing a little bandwidth for the music channels and cutting it a little fine? No drop outs at all prior to last Wednesday.
I've read in the dedicated drop-out forum that there were major disruptions in the LA area last Oct and Nov related to getting repeating stations up and running. Maybe they're trying to get the Toronto repeater up and it's confusing the receiver?
Other than this, I haven't looked back to FM once. I have my fingers crossed.

This is a cross-post from the Dogstar Cafe drop out thread.
I wouldn't worry that this is going to be a long term problem. From the above post it looks like they are messing around with broadcast stuff at the moment and will hopefully get things back on track. I just hope they do that soon because it's annoying as hell!

Here is the dilema I am in!! I resell on Ebay and all my ST2R units are doing this. All my inventory is from 2 yrs ago. I have over 100 units in inventory with car kits. Before I send these out I test them and they update channels and check audio on 184. The update usually takes only a minute. On Thursday for some reason the updating took well over 8 to 10 minutes per unit. After the updates, now the unit is defective aquiring signal at least every 10 seconds and the signal bouncing from 1 to 3 bars. So Sirius is doing something different with their signal that is killing these units and making them not work. If the radio received the update before Thursday they work fine!!!! So I am at a loss. Any unit that got the updates previous to Thursday is FINE. My stiletto 100 is doing it sometimes 3-4 times per minute but for some reason my ST2R units are suffering the most. I have purchased and sold over 400 of these setups so I know they are not defective. Ocassionally I have problems, but NOTHING on this scale. I have pulled all sales pertaining to these units until I get an answer from Sirius on this. You can just imagine my e-mail inbox has blowed up and the headache I have. I had no idea this was going to happen.

Default S50

I have been having drop outs since Thursday. It is so bad that I had to stop listening to Sirius. It has only gotten worse since I updated the software.

same issue here in Kalamazoo Michigan. it cuts out, but I still have all 3 bars (some of the longer ones, i will drop all the bars). It did it all weekend, at home, and in the car. Seems better today.

Anyone else in the Chicago area having problems? I can usually listen to my Stiletto 10 at work, but as of about 1:20 yesterday afternoon (CT), all I get is the 'Acquring Signal' message. I get a signal on it at home in the burbs, but it's weird that all of sudden, nothing at work where it was fine before.

Same here--Chicago. No signal what so ever since Tuesday. All I get is 'acquiring signal" I've tried moving my antenna around but I don't get a signal at all, not even for a second.

I tried calling customer service but hung up after being on hold for 10 minutes. I emailed them. I'll await their reply.

Sounds like there is a repeater down in Chicago!

Exact same thing here, Siriusfan7--I tried what you mentioned as well. I'll try emailing them too.

I can confirm the reduced signal strength in Chicago as well. It pretty much means I have 'aquiring signal' on my Metra ride downtown or in the Metra station now as well as dropouts walking around the city. Frustrating since I wanted a Stiletto to catch the last hour of the Bubba show on my commute home.

I hear ya--it stinks because I have to listen to Howard's whole show in the evenings or catch the weekend replays. And it always makes the first part of the work day go by so quickly.

I got my first response from Sirius saying they couldn't see anything wrong in the area and to try moving my antenna around (after I told them originally that I'd already tried that). I also mentioned again I'm not the only one in the area experiencing this sudden problem. We'll see what kind of response I get next time

That's disappointing but not unexpected. Tell them to reboot the Chicago terrestrial repeaters.

It just got significantly worse - constant drop out now with even the whole home antenna.
