Default The OFFICIAL signal dropout thread.

There are now many threads about this subject. Something is going on that started within the past week or two and Sirius isn't saying a word. In my case, I went from near perfect reception to constant signal dropouts, overnight. I've made a number if calls to Sirius and they insist it's my radio. Well if that's the case, I'm having the exact problem with my other radio and a few of my coworkers are having that problem too.

I've also talked with a bunch of you on this forum and the problem seems to be widespread, particularly in some of the major metropolitan areas.

I would like to hear from those of you who would be so kind as to post your experiences. I'm trying to bring some media attention to this issue. We're all paying our subscription to Sirius and not getting what we pay for while they've done onthing to respond to our concerns. So, please let me know what you've experienced and by all means, continue to call Siruis and complain. Do this for every day you are a paying Sirius subscriber. Hopefully through the power of the media and the power in numbers, we can get this resolved.

Default My two Sirius radios not working

I have one in the car, one in the house. I'm in Centennial Colorado (Denver suburb) and a few days ago both started having a lot of drop outs. Called customer service and they weren't aware of any issues (no surprise).

I think it's worse today (Wednesday) than it's been.

Maybe it was the meteor shower.

I haven't heard of anyone besides Denver that's having the problem.

Default Same problem

I also am in Denver and have been having problems with all of my docks (3) since yesterday... so constant are the interruptions that it's not even worth trying to listen....VERY annoying to say the least. I've had the s50 for only about 3 months so would like to know if its the unit or the satellites....?

Yes, numerous repeater issues in many metropolitan areas. It seems dialing down the repeater power HAS effected TER signal. Not much can be done until the issue gets resolved or they put some more repeaters up.

I've heard complaints in Denver, Chicago, LA and Baltimore so far.

Be upset about it but not much use in starting 50 threads about it.

Default Denver Signal Problems

I called their Customer Service and received the "huh?" response to the problem of the signal dropping and making it unlistenable (is that a word?). They finally said they would send me a new antenna which will not get here for "about 7 business days".

For the entire month I have frequently had the "acquiring signal" with the X in the lower left hand corner of my Sportser Replay radio. The home docking system worked fine. I have been getting very good signals ever since last December. How can an antenna suddenly go bad when it just sits there in the back window of my car? Very frustrating. Irritating.

Glad to see I am not alone but, geesh, why can't they just fess up to the fact that they have a problem?

I live in Michigan, I did not have that kind problem which you had, but due to the heavy cloud in this area signal was weak for sometimes.

But I udrestand your frustration, because Sirius does not want admit their problems.

I have a KU-Band dish and I get some ethenic channels out of Intelsat Americas 5 through Globecast, for sometimes their signal got very weak specially after 9.00 PM local time. I have called Globecast and complaint abut this, but I do not get any proper answers, It is not me some other people having the same problems.

Default d------n-------v-r---recep------ti--n ---s---cks

I too have the same problem--from south denver to about broomfield along 36--after that, clear signal. not sure i like that sirius just plays dumb when there is clearly a new reception issue.

oh, and the problem is not the antenna--i have an extra and there is no difference.

don't care about stern, so maybe a move to XM is required....

Default Just called Sirius CS...

...regarding my loss of signal in Denver, and they told me "all the repeaters are down" and that "they are aware of the problem".

Just wanted to give a quick update on what I was told. It's about 1:45pm (Denver time) on Wednesday.

Same problems in the Denver area. Funny thing is, I seem to get better reception when I get closer to home (Brighton area) and what seems to be out of range of where the repeater should reach. Reception is hit & miss at work in Arvada.

Same with me. There are no repeaters close to where I live but dropouts are not a problem under a clear sky. Much different story when I get into L.A. though.

Ok Sirius. Here is another complaint from the Denver market.

My reception problems began Monday morning with the dreaded “acquiring reception” on my Xact Visor. I can normally get great reception downtown in Denver as well as when driving around the metro area without any loss of signal. But not anymore…

The lack of a consistent signal almost has me listening to local radio, almost. But seriously, the constant loss of signal is very frustrating and makes my Xact almost usless.

I have called Sirius several times and haven’t received a good answer as to why so many of us are experiencing problems.

Come on Sirius, fix the problem already!

I've listened to commercial radio once since I got Sirius, and that was just to try to catch a traffic report. Since then I bought a different car that has a broken radio antena, but haven't bothered with fixing it. I've had to go back to digging out cds to listen to.

Just curious if anyone has been into the mountains? I would assume that sense you would be out of range from the repeater the sat signal would be fine. Sounds like people who live in areas without repeaters are not having an issue.

When I'm picking up both signals they start to cancel each other out. But when it's only one of them, either sat or repeater then the signal is fine.

Here is the problem with the repeaters and the attachment to reinstate the repeaters.
