Default Starmate Problems - Pontiac Grand Am

I got a ST2 Starmate system for my 2004 Pontiac Grand Am and am having two problems with the system.

1) Does anyone have any suggestions for keeping power to the system? The power source that came with the system will not stay in the car's cigarette lighter.

2) I cannot seem to keep a good FM reception in the car. I looked at fmfind.info and will try that, but is there anything else I can do? Despite my name, I live in South Florida. I am not very handy with cars, so I don't want to get too crazy with wires and whatnot.

Thanks for any help/suggestions!

I felt your pain. Although I had no issues with the power supply, I did have issues with the reception.

Reading and learning I deceided to have my Starmate 3 professionally wired and installed.

I didnt have a problem with taking my truck apart, It was putting it all back together that spooked me.

Trust me the install now has no wires showing and the FM modulator works great. Now I can enjoy listening instead of finding a decent FM signal.
