Default Why no Signal?! Static via FCC? Backorders!???!!!!

Why do other brand radios receive Sirius feeds fine, but newly constructed Sirius branded radios do not?

According to callers, older Sirius radios work fine...
Did the new ones have to change their FM broadcast strength 'cause of the FCC?

A response from the Sirius folks would help me explain this to customers...

Sincerely,
A Sirius warranty employee....

PS - What company (country) makes the Sirius branded radios?
Are they made in the USA?

Are you under the impression that this is an official Sirius website? It's not.

This is a private (meaning opposite of commercial) message board that is not in any way affiliated with Sirius. There is no guarantee that anyone working for Sirius will read or act upon anything posted here.

To fill you in... The FCC ordered a few models of Sirius receiver removed from store shelves because they exceeded the maximum FM transmitter strength. Directed (the company that makes Sirius brand equipment) reduced the transmitter power on all units that went back to the stores.

The consensus seems to be that the compliant receivers were reduced so much in strength that they are almost useless without a wired connection. The good news is that a FM modulator/relay is affordable and relatively easy to install. Do a search for 'SAT-SWB' to learn more.
