Default FM Modulator - Static / whine still...

I got everything put into my new '03 CV PI and it works well so far. It seems though that I still get FM channels bleeding into the signal. Is this a shielding problem since there are a few feet of FM antenna cable running amongst the car?

Also, I get a high pitched whine, that sounds much like that of a TV (if your ears are still good ). It doesn't change pitch, so I'm sure it isn't a ground loop issue. Maybe the amplifier in the stock head unit is electrically noisy?

Thanks for any help!

Chris

They are not 100%. They aren't even 80% IMO. Still crackel, whine, whatever. Try different FM stations, physically remove the external antenna(may work the best) or see if your radio has an AUX IN. That would be the best bet.

One or two questions occur to me:

Are you near a large, powerful transmitter? Does a neighbor have a crop of antenna growing on his roof or talk about ham radio a lot?

Do you have any other devices (mp3, iPod, etc.) that you leave one when you use your Sirius?

do you have a wired FM modulator or wireless? If its wireless go get a wired one for $20. Set it up on a channel that is totally static for best sound. The only way to go IMO is AUX in on your receiver.

Couple more questions

What Sirius receiver are you using?

Are you transmitting the signal over the the air to your FM tuner, or have you got it connected directly by running a wire from the FM out jack on your Sirius unit to the radio antenna input on your car FM radio?

If you're using the built in FM transmitter to send the FM signal 'over the air', to your FM receiver then that's your main problem. As robhurlburt syas.. get a "Direct FM adapter (also known as an FM modulator relay)).

Is the high pitched whine coming from your speakers or your Sirius receiver.. The reason I ask is that my old Audiovox PNP2 used to give off a high pitched whine. ( Kind of like TV sets do sometimes). I never heard it in the speakers...
