Default GX 470 options

Hi -

I am turning in my wife's RX330 for a 2007 GX470 which come pre-wired for XM only. The option is $600. I have Sirius in my car and everyone loves it (my 4yr old loves Kids Stuff) so I am reluctant getting XM since they are familiar with what I have.

The dealer said XM is the only one that broadcasts real time traffic info which is why Sirius is not an option. Since the car is wired for something, soes anyone know if there is a converter kit to Sirius available?

Thanks

AJC

Here is a link to a kit that we offer that combines a SIRIUS Connect Tuner (SIRJVC1) and a Lexus SIRIUS Interface. It will work with your Lexus Nav or no Nav and will allow SIRIUS through the headunit. And we've had positive feedback on them thus far.

It comes with a piece from VAIS Technology and the Directed Electronics SIRJVC1 Tuner. They connect to each other and will connect to the back of your Lexus Headunit.

Thanks for your reply. Would I still need to purchase the XM tuner from the Dealer or just let it ride without....

The car does have Nav with the Mark Levinson audio if that make a difference.

Thanks!

Talking Don't be silly

Just get XM. It has all of the same stations Sirius has and more. Your kids will still be able to listen to the Disney stations, it has more music and talk radio. Plus, Sirius will be out of business within a year anyway. Lastly, it will make the install so much easier.

Thanks, but no thanks Treeman. XM may have the "same" channels as Sirius but they have twice the idle banter and their kids channel is all programs which a 4 yrs old will not pay attention to. Radio Disney doesn't cut the mustard in my house.

We are a Sirius family and that's that. There is a reason that only XM recievers can be found during the Holidays....

Out of business within a year?? PLEASE!!
1st. nascar is coming in a couple of weeks.
2nd. try to call sirius activation line and see how long you'll wait cuz people is calling to activate their radios.
3rd. SiriusBackstage is getting bigger, and more people still signing up.

Go somewhere else with your xm advertisement.

I use the Vaistech Sirius adapter (same as the TSS) and it works fine in my RX350. Just be sure that you get one with Version 4.30 firmware or else your audio will be about 10-15 clicks lower than your other sources (FM, CD, etc).

One thing to note: the dropdown window that shows what channel you are tuning to (when in the map screen - if you have navi) will not work with either the radio buttons or channel buttons on the steering wheel. This problem was not resolved with v4.30.

Thanks, Ken...

I will give that a shot. Did you do it yourself or have someone install it for you? If you did it yourself, did you find any documentation of how to pull the dash apart or where the wiring lives?

Uh oh... I may have spoke too soon. I posted this same question on Lexus board and someone came back with this.

"I traded my 06 GX in for an 07 GX last week. I installed the Lexus LX Sirius radio kit on the 06 and it worked and sounded great. But since Lexus went to a 10 channel amp (for surround sound) on the 07 in place of the 8 channel on the 06 and earlier GX's, the amp connections are different and the Sirius kit will not work on the 07 GX."

Now I am really confused....

I did mine myself. but it was an RX350, not the GX. The kit is VERY easy to install. There is a wiring harness that plugs intothe back of your radio then you plug the VAISTECH SLS into it. Very simple.

Longest time you will spend is routing the antenna cable under the trim to get it to the front of your car.

Total time to do everything was about 30 minutes, though it would now take less time as I know where the radio bolts are...

Check out their site - there may be some info on how to remove your radio.

Thanks for the info. I just checked the application guide on Vaistech's site and the only GX's that are supported are through 2006. The RX goes through 2007.... Looks like that guy's claim about the amplifier changes could be true.

Stinky for me.
