Default Stock Radio Question

Hi,
I am not a radio install expert or any sort of an expert when it comes to this stuff, but every since i started using the Sirius one in my car the radio shuts off whenever it wants to, and it is usually about 10 minutes after I get started down the road.

Sometimes it comes back on sometimes it does not, well at least it does not for a while. i was thinking a short, but i took it out, and all the wires seem ok, unless its inside the radio.

Was looking for a reason to buy a new radio, but really don't wanna do that if its the wiring in the car.

Anyone else have this problem with these radios?

That's not normal. You should exchange the radio for a new one at the place you bought it.

if you don't use the sirius receiver at all and just use the radio, does it do the same thing? Eliminate things one at a time. Unplug the Sirius receiver and see if that is causing it. If it still goes off after 10 mins you have a head unit problem.

yeah if the sirius receiver is not plugged and it still acts the same way, then your factory radio most likely has an issue. Either get it fixed or replace it with a new head unit (radio).

It's hard to diagnose what is loose or broken in your car on a message board

Who installed the Sirius unit in your car ? Perhaps take it back to them to check over.

If you installed it and have no clue what is going wrong, you could drop by a stereo shop and have them see if they can troubleshoot it for you. Of course, it will cost, but at least you'll know what is wrong..
