Unhappy cig lighter fritz???

OK, so I think my saturn's cig lighter is fryed....... I thought it was the sirius adapter plug, no dice, I even bought a new SIRIUS 1 from CC for $20, still no luck, then a friend told me that it's possible the connection in the back of the cig lighter could be lose or a bad electrical connection. my question is this.....Is this going to be an expensive fix??? and how hard is it to find the source of the problem, I don't want to rip out the console to get to the cig lighter, maybe my local mechanic shop can help....any ideas??? thanks.

You could maybe try calling a BEST BUY install department and ask their opinion. I doubt they will fix it but would probably know what part to get or where to take it.

Good luck.

ok, I just read some of the other posts on this issue, I know that their is a seperate fuse for the cig lighter.....but what size fuse, it doesn't say anything about this in the saturns' manual, and is their a fuse in the sirius adapter plug or unit itself??? also, I'm not very good at fixing cars, so should I just pay someone to do it???? thanks for your help.

1. Try plugging another device into the cig lighter to see if it works. I assume your car is too new to have an actual cigarette lighter??

2. In an old vehicle the female plug can get rusty and you have to fiddle with it. Inexpensive to replace.

3. Now, the other fuse. It is inside the male plug. Try to open the male plug to see what kind of fuse it is. Look at it and see if the thin wire inside looks broken. Or take it to Radio Shack or your friendly auto parts store.

I believe that socket pulls out if you tug hard enough. (I wouldn't do it)

I know those parts are REAL CHEAP. Like under $10 but once again, I wouldn't touch it. ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZAP.

Bring it to the dealer and they'll probably charge ya $50 to fix it.
