Default New GMC with unwanted XM

I have the sirius sportster and I just purchased a GMC Envoy with a XM radio and roof antena built in, is there a way to use the same antena in place of running the sirius antena to the roof also? I do not plan to keep XM after my free period is over.

I figure there is a splitter of some sort available, but I am also not all that comfortable with opening up the dash on my new car ... your help would be greatly appreciated.

Get with tss-radio. They can help you if you're going to turn your XM radio into a Sirius, or if you just want to use the antenna that your car comes with...

What year is your Envoy?

Whether or not you can "hijack" the XM antenna for use will depend on the year model. (This is why Michigan Made asked the question I assume). The newer models don't have an adapter yet. If it is '06 or older, I *think* you can get a Sirius to XM adapter from TSS, as linked above in the first response.

And don't fret over popping your dash apart. Since getting into Sirius myself, I've cracked open the dashes of a Tundra, a TrailBlazer (very similar to your Envoy), a Colorado, and a Camry. Sounds scary, but it ain't. Haven't had an issue with any of them and hadn't been behind a dash since I was a teenager who was big into car audio back in the 80s and was constantly working in the business.

I replaced my OEM XM unit with the SIR-GM1 a while back. I used the GM installed satellite radio antenna via an adapter cable i got from brianrwebb here on the forum. I'd contact him and see if he can help.

same here... the stock xm antenna on my trailblazer is really bad for reception quality (for xm and sirius) and im thinking about running a real sirius antenna... but its doable and brianrwebb was fast and a pro.
