Default FTW to Dallas Aquiring Signal

I have two units in two differant vehicles. In the mornings between 4:45 at 7:00cst travelling eastbound I am hammered with the drop outs and acquiring signal screens. I go into Antennae aiming and see that the SAT signal is 0% and the repeater signal bounces between 0 and 100%. The weird thing is when I am headed back home going westbound in the afternoon the problems never pop up. Is there anykind of environmental interferrances (temperature,or atmospheric ) that could be causing this?

Could be terrestrial interference of some sort. That doesn't imply a problem with the Sirius repeater per se. It could be something to do with someone else's transmitter operating out of spec and "stepping on" the Sirius signal.

I was thinking the same thing. I go through D/FW all the time. More so then any other metro area in the country. I never get dropouts going through there.

Car 1 in a Ply Neon: Ant mounted on roof 6" up from the weather stripping
Car 2 Nissan Murano: Mounted on roof 6" from the top rear hatch.

they have been working fine up until the last few weeks, I notice it allot more when its colder outside.

Both Systems are the Sportster replay version 2. Either radio does the same thing no matter what car its docked in.. Both Antennae are the low profile coin looking ones.

I can get on 121 in Fort Worth heading east and have them in and out Acquiring signal most of the way. But coming home around 4 the same stretch its flawless.

Its not like its being hijacked by something on the same frequency. I can turn it off ans there will be nothing there. I am set to 87.9. Usually when I hear that interference I can turn it off and someone else will be there.

I have on of the system in the home dock at the moment. I will check that in the morning.

I was wondering if it might do with colder atmospheric conditions causing an invisible cloud to the east between me an the sat.
Again this only happens between 4-7am cst either on 121/183 and I20 going east. But since I am the only one its happing to I will dig more in to moving the antennas or replacing. Both my units are less than a year old.

***************sorry I just found the official drop out thread. Thats when mine starting happening as well.**************

It may just be that water leaked into the car antenna on both antennas and need a replacement.

C'mon now. He said they were both fine until just recently, then all of a sudden they both started having problems. In light of all the signal problems there have been as of late (look at all the threads about it), I can't imagine it's his equipment. My guess is that it's the same old thing that many of us are experiencing all over the country. If it were me, I'd contact some other Sirius subscribers in your area and see how their reception has been. I suspect you'll find they're having the same problems you're having.

At that point, make sure you get Sirius on the phone and let them know about it and let them know you're not going to pay for something you can't enjoy.

Skylooker, they're updating the repeaters across the country for some big "rollout", and that's why they had to take it down temporarily. I wouldn't be surprised if anything happened to the antenna or if they're upgrading the Dallas/FtW repeater.

Where did you hear that? Would you please elaborate? Forgive me for not immediately buying that after all the bullshit I've heard from Sirius. I don't beleive any of it.

I try NOT to give out my sources but I will say it's from an insider. No offense but if you're going to force now ask later, you'd better go back to XMFan.com.

Default Update after recent trip

ok on a trip form texas to oklahoma/arkansas. The radio had its few issues. But on its way from Arkansas back to Dallas it was worth less. Then when I got into fort worth where I know there is a repeater that is usually at 75% It was gone. But once I got bak into the house and docked it. Sat and TER are 100%. I have an email into customer care to see if I can get two roof pods. I wll keep you posted.

I have to take back what I said before. I was driving through D/FW last week on my way to Fort Worth, and I did have some drop off in Dallas. On my way from I45 to I30 to I35E, I had a drop off in the downtown area. After I left the area, everything was fine...

haywyre, I'm being to think it's your radio. Good luck getting it fixed...
