The manual has step by step instructions that tell you where to put everything.. They even supply pictures to help you out

What specifically are you wondering about ?

Do I need some sort of converter/after market part to install it?

I'm getting it done by my local car stereo shop...will they install this?

When you bought the Starmate 4, it came with a vehicle kit. This should include everything you need for your car. You shouldn't have to buy anything else. If you are having it professionally installed, they should know what to do with it.

You might need the "FM Direct" switch if you're going to use the FM modulator in the Starmate. These cost about $20 US and can be purchased at Circuit City and the like. You can install it without one, but I don't recommend it.

If you are having it isntalled, you will want this:

http://www.tss-radio.com/sirius-wire...lay-p-118.html

They may also be calling it the "FM Direct Adapter" or something like that. Your car may require antenna adpaters so be sure to ask your install guys about that as well.

Like Skylooker said, you can install without this but it will eliminate the statis you will get with the wireless FM transmitter. It's the best $20 you will spend to improve your Sirius experience.

Hey Nova79,

Let me know when you get this installed, I'm thinking of going down that route as well and I was curious as to the difference in sound quality.

cheers.

Nova79,

You'll also need this to install the FM modulator in your GM vehicle as the later model radios use a smaller than standard antenna plug.

Are you kidding me??? I have to have this damn thing installed by December 31st, or I don't get my damn rebate....I went and picked up an FM modulator...now I gotta pick up one of these things (which I'm guessing my local install shop PROBABLY won't have any)?

This Satellite radio is starting to seem like more trouble than what it's worth.... I'm having second thoughts about having bought this thing....

Well, I called my local auto shop and booked an appointment for today to have it installed. I mentioned that I had the radio and an FM modulator to install...and he said that was fine. So I'll keep my fingers crossed that they know what they're doing!
