You can activate it online at sirius.com, or I like to call in for a new radio. They need to know the radio id number which is on the unit. Credit card will be charged activation fee plus subscription plan that you choose. Also will need the unit on receiving a signal tuned to channel 184. So they can activate it thru the satellite. Customer Service is 1-888-539-7474. These directions should be included with your radio purchase.

Marcel,

Since you are living in BC you can try activating online at SiriusCanada.com as well.

The 888 number Peacepeddler provided will get you a Canadian CSR if you make your call from Canada.

I've activated both of my radios using the Sirius website. I never spoke to a live person, and the process took 10 minutes at the most.

Do you need to activate it and have a signal to enable the power to turn on?

No, power comes on regardless if the unit is activated or not. Even if it isn't activated you should be able to get channel 184 with audio, and all channels after you activate it.
