Question Removing Sirius Universal Car Kit vent mount

I recently got a new Sirius Stratus radio and I'm thinking about doing a vent mount since the dashboard of my 90 Camry is curved in shape (not great for sticking things on). If I used the vent install method, How hard would it be if I were to remove the radio in the future (as in when I get a new car)?

From the looks of the diagram it apparently has bar that sticks into the vent and hooks onto it and another one that puts tension on the vent to keep it in place...which is why I'm concerned about the removal process.

Even though the bundled car kit is the standard universal one, I've included my Stratus' manual with illustrations & diagrams of the car kit if anyone wants to take a look: http://www.sirius.com/pdf/manuals/SV...de-083106a.pdf (the drawing's on the printed page 12)

thanks in advance.

Those vent mounts come out pretty easy. I don't think its meant to be a permenant fixture in your car. I just installed one in my car yesterday and I removed it once or twice until I got it where I wanted it. Takes a little wiggle to get it out, but no big deal.

Usually to remove the vent mounts, you just push it in and then lift up to release the clip. If you have a small screwdriver or something that you can use to the release the hook when you push in, they release easier.

Default Relax!

If you are worried about breaking the vent getting it out, just unsnap the closure on the back of the mount that holds the clip in. You can then slide off the cradle and twist the clips and slide them out.

ooh ok, thanks everyone.

i was afraid it was similar to those Glade car vent air freshener things which literally snaps onto the vent itself and you have to use force to yank it out.
