Default no power to starmate replay

my wife and i just got two sirius radios. mine (sportster 4) installed w/o a hitch in my truck. when installing my wife's in her honda odyessey i didn't have enough length on the power cord. i had the same problem on my truck but an extention cord from radio shack solved the problem easily. unfortunatly i didn't have a place to hide the bulky conection in the odyessey. the guy at radio shack suggested splicing in a longer cord, so i did, now now power to starmate (works just fine in boombox). is their something special about sirius power cord that would make this alteration not work. if its as simple as that, is there a longer cord available for the starmate replay. if not is there anyway to splice in a longer cord and get power.

If you cut off the power outlet plug and spliced directly into a 12v power source, it will not work. The newer radios require a 5v power source. The plug has and adapter in it to properly regulate the power source.
Friday and Saturday nights, I'll probably be at:

You also might have blown the fuse in the Starmate cig plug.

Is this the Starmate 3 or 4, or Replay?

it's a starmate replay. i guess i screwed up by cutting the outlet plug off and using the radio shack generic one. i guess it's safe to assume it's ok to take the original sirius outlet plug and just splice in a section of wire? thank you both for such a quick reply.
