Default Lights on the radios

I have a question that i have been meaning to ask a long time ago. Does it help if you keep the lights on your radio so there almost off. On my sportster and stiltto 100 the light settings are as low as they can go. so my question is- does that have an effect on the life of the radio?

Possibly, but I doubt it.

As long as the LEDs (the lights) are being driven by current less than their maximum rating, all the way down is the same as all the way up, as far as their lifetime is concerned.

OTOH, turning down the LED brightness will extend the battery time and life.

I would definitely recommend turning down the brightness a much as possible on a regular basis.

can i turn the lights off? way too bright even on the lowest setting. fine in the city but on a country road at night it's really annoying. i spent 10 minutes going through every menu. maybe i'm a moron.

i have a starmate replay btw.

If I understand correctly, no.

The Sportster Replay can be set to automatically dim, or be manually set. I don't think the Starmate Replay has this feature. I could be wrong.
