Default 2006 Mazda MX-5 w/Bose - Sirius Installation

Any MX-5 owners out there? Getting ready to install Sirius and I am looking for satisfaction feedback. I am also very interested in where the dealer will put the antenna.

Smile Installation of Sirius in Mazda MX-5

I installed the Mazda Sirius receiver and antenna that came with it - purchased at my Mazda dealership. Since my comfort level was not high that they had ever done it before and I didn't want them to learn on my car, I did it myself. It took 7 hours. If I did it again, I could do it in 4-5. The biggest problem I encountered was disconnecting the plastic plug-in clips with wires attached - all of them. 15 or 20 minutes to figure out how to undo them (often working blind by feel), less than 5 seconds to reconnect them. I ended up mounting the receiver in the cubby behind the driver's seat - never used it anyway and it seemed like a good location. As for the antenna, I mounted it between the high-mounted brake light and the interior - just enough room. I removed the brake light assembly (all plastic), filed a channel for the wire, and ran the antenna wire into the trunk under the brake light. I messed up the plastic clips that hold the brake light on so I got new ones from the dealer. I also got spray paint (on-line) the factory color and painted the antenna. Looks good and reception is great. The best part is that with the Bose factory radio I have 3 Sirius bands -18 pre-sets. I love it and have not listened to 'regular' radio since I got it. With the Bose, 'regular' radio reception is loosy, CDs sound great and Sirius is CD quality. Look at the car and the only clue I have Sirius is the antenna - can't see anything else. I can also listen to Sirius at work on my computer!!
