Default Help with 2006 Hundyai Sonata install

My wife got me an S50 for Christmas. I've done the basic install with no problem. I would now like to put in the FM Direct to help with the static and interference. Does anybody have any idea how to get behind the factory installed radio? Its the one with the 6 disk CD changer. Thanks.

I would go to www.crutchfield.com and talk to one of their tech or order a Crutchfield Mastersheet install guide. They are very thorough and knowledgable. They will help you out.

Thanks - the Crutchfield idea was going great until I got to the part where they didn't have any information on my particular model. Any other ideas out there?

Don't sweat it it really is easy.

First open up the glove box and look on the silver trim piece running along the middle of the dash. There are 2 screws in the glove box holding that peice in place.

Remove them and then using a flat screw driver gently pry that silver piece out. Start at the far side by the passenger door. There are plastic clips that hold onto it. Becareful as some of these will likely be lost in the process. If they stay in the hole of that the part inserts take them out and reattach them to the trim peice. You will understand it once you see it.

Then under the seatbelt and the hazzard swith there are 1 screw each and remove these. There are the same clips as descibed before with the trim peice.

Once these are removed there are 2 screws on each side of the radio and 2 on the bottom. Remove these and the radio should just slip out.

I just did this removal last night myself. I did a bit of a customer job and removed most of the glove box dash area as well as the HVAC controls. This was to allow me to route all my wires and such.

If you want pictures go to www.huyndai-forums.com and do a search for satellite radio. You will find a post that has pics of a Sonata owner and the install of his XM system.

I hope this helps.
